All of the voice recognition algorithms I've ever tried are terrible at recognizing anything said with an accent other than the one it was programmed to recognize. I have a Brazilian accent AND a speech impediment. I have never been able to use any voice recognition system in any language.
My apartment is in an old (1870's) brownstone townhouse. In no way designed with a projector and surround sound system in mind. And I didn't have to hang it from the ceiling either. Just built a wall shelf, and put the projector among some books, decorations, flower pots, etc. Inexpensive, and doesn't look out of place.
Yes, it took some planning, but not a whole lot. And the cost was under $2k for the projector (plus NYC taxes), about $200 worth of Goo Systems paint, and under $50 for a wall shelf and hardware. In the end, a sharp looking 134" 1080p screen for well under $3k.
I also use a projector. 143" HD screen for under $3k. And you don't need an expensive screen to get good image quality. There are special paints such as Goo Systems that can make any wall a high contrast and high gain screen.
I sometimes need to destroy hard drives at work. I do it right in front of the user so they know their old data isn't going anywhere. I open the computer, pull out the drive, open the drive, get a screw driver under the disk plate and use it as a lever. The plates will either bend or shatter depending on material.
I still miss the Real Estate function in Google Maps. When I was looking for a new place to live some years ago, it really helped me out. But now that I'm considering moving again, I have to search a dozen different sites from different brokers in order to find something in my area.
Did anyone actually read the article? First of all, it doesn't even mention the U.N. - This is an European Community conference on the Holocaust. The U.N. has nothing to do with it. Second, everyone here is jumping the gun coming up with conspiracy theories on how this will be implemented, without having ANY facts first, or without even knowing if anyone at all will come out of the conference. Geez.

The company's Amazon store is full of such nonsense. My favorites are the $8,594.75 3.5mm to RCA cable, and the $6,899.75 power cable.
Complaining about the quality of journalism on Fox news is like complaining about the quality of the officiating in professional wrestling.
How does one censor an underwater tsunami?
Its his own damn fault. Flying while brown...... What did he expect? Fair treatment?
We had home cable TV (Manhattan Cable) in 1980. And I got my first email address when I got into Polytechnic University in 1983.
Now how am I supposed to browse Geocities?

Shouldn't the subject line for this story read "Independent Developer Fight Piracy & Loses it?

And yes, that is his picture on that page.
And whisper'd in the sounds.... of silence....
I did this before myself. Here is what my firewall sounded like.
Still no cure for cancer.
True story: Once while visiting Thomas Moore College in Ohio, a (grad?) student approached me to ask:
- You have an intesting accent. where are you from?
- Brazil
- Oh! That's funny. You don't look Oriental!
Geography classes are a wonderful thing, aren't they?

Its not in deja.com yet, and I didn't want to reproduce it here to avoid possible copyright issues, so here is a link to it.
Also, see http://home.earthlink. net/~macshack/robotwars/publicity.html for "The History of Robot Combat- The 'Nutshell' Version". Quite an interesting read, and a good example for any nerd out there with a good idea to be aware of.
He might be. His quote of Bruce Perens is nearly verbatim from this post by Bruce.
