I'm running Win98SE, and I just tried that like to see what it did.
Right after I clicked it, I got two BSOD's, and then I was dumped back to my desktop. I tried running some programs to see if my system was still stable, but that just caused my system to lock up, so I was forced to reboot.
Someone on EFNet #gnutella asked that very question and the answer was that the name is a combination of GNU and Nutella. Now, whether this is the actual origin of the name or not is another story.
You could also have them try the Windows port of GIMP. I've used it a bit, and while I can't compare it to the native Linux version of GIMP, I can say I like it much better than Photoshop.
From my experience I would have to agree with this. I am 17 years old, and I have pirated software/music before. The software fell under one of two catagories: a) programs I was considering purchasing but wanted to try out more (some didn't have trials/demos, others had crappy trials/demos) or b) programs I didn't have the money to pay for (for example, Photoshop) As far as music goes most of it was CDs that I wanted to listen to before I bought them. If I like the CD, I go out and buy it, if not, I delete the mp3s. Most of the other people I've talked to in the 'warez scene' are in similar positions.
Actually, I've encountered this bug myself a few times. The latest occurence was yesterday. Popped up outta nowhere. One minute my system was working fine, the next it was switching apps whenever I tried to tab between fields on a web page form. Rebooted and my system worked fine again, but it's damn annoying having to reboot for something like that.
I thought a while back Internic said they were going to start allowing people to register domains such as fuck.com and shit.com. Am I mistaken, or did this actually happen?
I'm going to be starting my senior year of high school tomorrow, and that's exactly how they do the programming classes here. BASIC->Pascal->C++ It seems to work out pretty well for most people.
What I usually do is have an easy to remember password that I use for things that I don't care much about the security of. Things like web based email accounts I signed up for and end up using as another address to use for those sites who make you fill out those surveys before you can download their product. For more secure things I usually make up random passwords in the form of three letters, two numbers, and then three more letters. I usually keep the case of the passwords mixed, but consistent so I can remember it. The result is a password that is fairly difficult to guess due to the mixed case and the numbers, but easy enough for me to remember since I know the pattern of the letters and numbers.
2 years ago (my freshman year) we had a gaming club at my school. Quake was still the thing then, so we'd DM over the network and just have a good time. Then, it happened. The district officials found out we were playing games. They couldn't allow us to have fun, they wanted us to do something productive, like program or do web pages and stuff that most of us didn't wanna go to a club to do. So, it pretty much fizzled out after that. But, it was fun while it lasted.
Well, the file size kinda depends on the format. I found a copy of the Matrix in Real Video G2 format that was just under 400MB (384 if I remember right). I downloaded the first couple megs of it just to see what kinda of quality it was (no way in hell I'm gonna DL 384MB on my 56k dialup), and it seemed to be excellent quality (400k/s encoding I think). However, I don't understand why people would want to watch movies on their PCs. If they had a TV tuner card or something and were watching playback from a VCR, that's one thing, but encoded video that's not even full screen? That and I think that having to switch CDs in the middle of the movie would be a pain.
I believe they added the ;-) to the name so that people wouldn't confuse it with DivX, the failed DVD rental scheme.

Well, I don't know about anyone else here, but the way I see it is that any joke about a person's death is disrespectful.

Heh, we've got an Odessy somewhere down in our basement. I think it still works. Maybe I'll hafta get it out sometime and see if it still works.

Just for the record, where exactly is "over here"?

Last I remember the max userlimit for WC was 3600 users.
