I finally started running virus detection on my Macs. There are just too many exploits around in the real world to take a chance.
Apple no longer promotes the lies that they're "Secure by Design"
And, as seen a PWN2OWN each year, the Macs are usually hacked first!
There was one huge fact that everyone missed
This woman's photo featured not only the person she believed was acting inappropriately, but some people who even by her account were uninvolved. In fact, the person in the center of the photo, smiling, had nothing to do with what the person seated next to him allegedly said.
The Pycon organizers should have immediately escorted this woman outside and banned her from coming in. She should be banned for life for trying to ruin an innocent person's reputation. (By her OWN ACCOUNT, all the people in the photo weren't saying these things.) This is independent over whether she was in fact wronged. She had NO RIGHT to involve innocent people.
Pycon is also at fault for making their conference an umbrella organization for all causes. It should be narrowly focused around the use of Python in computing. Period. If I want to go to a political rally, I'd go to one.
We will NEVER waste our time at a Pycon again. Ever. All of us at our company feel the same way.
When she tweeted that photo, she didn't indicate WHO she believe had verbally "assaulted" her. It turns out the person in the center of that photo, smiling, was completely uninvolved. I hope he is able to sue SendGrid and gets a judgement that puts them out of business.
This is supposed to be a TECH CONFERENCE.
The organizers of Pycon wants to make it a open-forum for any progressive and radical cause. That's just stupid.
ABSOLUTELY!
This is supposed to be a developer's conference. This "woman" has never written a LINE OF CODE in her life. Her public github shows two commits--a file name change and a comment!

Tech Conferences should have a NARROW focus. On the technology. It's not a place for broad-spectrum political activism. It's not an "Occupy" demonstration. Professional Victims should not attend
This woman's job was to be a TECH EVANGELIST for a tech company. She wasn't the director of women's studies at some university.
She was paid to be there to make people LIKE her company. She was AT WORK while she was there.
Does she really think publicly shaming people -- even those she doesn't like--is part of her job? The only thing it might do is cause her company to lose customers.
She is a terrible, awful person.
Steve Jobs told me the Mac was secure by design, and immune to attacks. I'm going to stick my fingers in my ears and sing "LA LA LA." This is obviously propaganda spread by Windows users.
Exxactly! We can't find some third party to blame any time someone commits suicide. I agree it's awful when a person takes his own life, but that doesn't make it someone else's fault.
But, according to you crazy slashdotters, LINUX phones are coming soon, and they'll squash all the competition, just as Linux now dominates the desktop.
OF COURSE people at an OPENSTACK conference will be talking about alternatives to AWS. That's the point of the conference. What did you expect?
Because of the nonsense at the last PyCon, we're switching to Perl

Why doesn't slashdot just post a topic each day that says simply "Bitcoin!!!!1!!" so we can read the same comments every day?
Seems like just yesterday, /. had a story about this.

Feminists HATE gay men. Why? Because they have no need for women! The Feminist argument is that it devalues women to be a gay man.
If you don't think this should be legally protected speech, I suggest you move to a dictatorship at once.
I have evidence that Ms. Richards' has a screw loose. See her comments on this comic cartoon used on a T-Shirt http://jenmylo.com/2011/08/03/wcsf-shirt/
Even more evidence of Ms. Richards' tatics. This isn't the first time she's played games like this. See http://amandablumwords.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/3/
See her YouTube channel, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtOrq10PZVw
I'll ignore any commentary (including _this_ one) that isn't from an actual Lawyer.
No it's not always the user's fault. Try doing this on an un-jailbroken iOS device.

Maybe 5 or 10%. It's no longer "Linux"
But someone keeps killing the Oldest Living Man. Every couple of years, the current one dies. Someone should investigate!
Walgreens is not Walmart They are two distinct companies not related in any way. But SIMPLE FACTS never got in the way of a slashdotters agrument!
But, according to you crazy slashdotters, LINUX phones are coming soon, and they'll squash all the competition, just as Linux now dominates the desktop.
Did you ever own a Zune? They worked great! The problem was more of "so what?" more than it didn't work or work well.
That article /. linked to was 99% gist free. There was almost no information in it. C'mon /. You can do better.
