The people meant to protect us should be held to a higher standard (the FBI not the informants). The argument of a lesser of two evils should never be used. This is corruption pure and simple.
Guns are the wrong point of focus for most gun violence, but it's an easy scapegoat. If you really want to reduce gun violence, legalize the drug trade and increase mental health and drug rehabilitation budgets. There is evidence to back up both of those polices as having a positive impact on gun violence. There is no evidence to support that stricter gun laws in the U.S. reduce gun violence.
We as a country lost that a long time ago. If you've dealt with any law enforcement agency, the approach is "guilty until proven innocent." The burden of proof now lies on you.
That's a joke, right? Imagine a world where every company required their own type of wall outlet (Apple would love this.. just saying). API's are the software world's equivalent of a standard. The real magic happens behind the scenes.
That is why I am 100% ok with this. As a competent software developer, this will mean sooooooo much more work for me because these "new" programmers will be awful. This will be a boon for good software developers everywhere.
That's not how it works, but its cute that you think so. It's a contract on exclusive rights to the current wire to the home (given to the cable company for installing and maintaining the wires). Any cable operator can come in and run their own wires on top and compete. This is really expensive to do, so most companies don't bother with it except in very dense urban areas, as it can be worth it. This is exactly what google is doing. As the new wires still fall under city/county control, Google has to enter into a similar contract for their infrastructure. While I agree there can be minor differences between the Google and Charter contracts, it is government cronyism to favor one so heavily.
While I like Google Fiber, I do agree that Google Fiber and Charter should be playing by the same rules from a regulatory standpoint. Charter service sucks, so Google Fiber will most likely win on its own merit, but this kind of preferential treatment is a bad stance for the city to take.
Just a tip, if you want to do front end web development, pick up JavaScript (along with HTML, CSS). If you want to do anything else (web services, desktop applications, mobile applications, data science, etc), look at a more robust language.
Just because the language is "challenging" (ie impossible to debug, read, or view a dependency tree) does not make it good. You might as well program C in notepad and call it challenging.
And what the F*** are you smoking that you think JavaScript is more powerful than pretty much any other modern programming language?
Speed laws were enacted originally to conserve gas usage. They are now used as a way of funding the militarized police force we have in the US. I, along with most sane people, disagree with laws not in the best interest of the people and wholeheartedly agree with breaking them.
That's a joke right? Without some major scientific breakthroughs, we are already well over the max sustainable population for the planet. For one, we feed the world with petrochemical fertilizers (limited resource). There should be a caveat in there somewhere; we can't sustain the current world population at the current standard of living. If we want to keep everyone around, we will seriously need to cut back on luxury goods. We will also have to carefully ration things like healthcare which is also a limited resource.
No they do not. Companies are not cognizant. The people inside a company are the ones with the power. If you want to hold someone accountable hold the person whose actions are actually causing harm to this country, not a political ideology.
How about we fix the legal system to prevent stupid lawsuits? Its not a "hands free" system, so why should we give any merit to the deaths of people to stupid to follow simple instructions and run themselves off of the road? I honestly feel this autopilot is doing the world a great service by culling the gene pool.
You are some kind of terrible or just plain complacent. Neither should be held in high regard.

Guns have serial numbers. Selling a cop a stolen gun seems like a great way to go to jail.
That could be a permanent mod option. I'd use it daily.

You just described most of the human population.
So go ahead and give me your argument for why JavaScript is more power than most modern languages. I would like to learn something new today.

I use titanium. The wallet is sexy as hell, garners a lot of attention, and doesn't come on a spool in my kitchen.

No the person passing at +0.5 mile an hour is a dick and by slowing down everyone around them is literally holding up the progress of all mankind.
Dont be a dick: http://forums.officer.com/t110...
But I got "minor text fixes" today.
WTF 1st grade math class did you fail out of? A straight line can have a positive, negative or zero slope. That is three options.
That and Russia's corruption is pretty well known and public. No need for a Russian Wikileaks.
Name an unregulated market here in the US.

companies have plenty of political power
