you are wasting your breath here. the idea of sticking together and helping 'linux' as a whole to succeed is an unknown concept to these people. they would rather have bickering fits over who's GUI is better rather than improving the system as a whole.
wow. this gets more amazing everyday. Here you have what the linux users call themselves a 'community'. well, hate to break the news people, but if this is a community, then it's a pretty distorted one. A community is where people sharing a common interest (supposedly) and fighting for the same cause, all band together and fight as one. But this is not the case in the so called 'linux community' you all so cherish. you have all the little groupies split into different sections bad-mouthing the others, and yet you hope to succeed. sorry, but if you to acheive a goal, you have to all band together and help one another and be one loud voice.
yah, you have the freedom to choose between GNOME or KDE, or windowmaker, or fvwm, or whatever you wish to use. But how does 'linux' wish to acheive 'world domination' when they can't even get along within their own little group. Hell, you can't even decide between a name to call the 'OS' you are fighting for!
I'm almost ashamed to say I ever ran linux, or is it GNU/Linux?
wow..cause i suppose you are nothing but a complete genious who as soon as you heard the word "linux"..you knew exactly everything about it and how to run it. I bet you never had a single question about setting anything up and just went right in and took control. Never a problem with anything. In fact, you've never had to read a how-to once have yah?
personally I find the dvorak layout to be much more efficient and comfortable. Learning qwerty was much more difficult than dvorak ever was.
just my opinion
sounds like you're unworthy of respect

first of all, who's to say that everyone who particpated in this contest even was a mac user. Maybe some people did it because it sounded FUN. You should lighten up a bit. Haven't you ever done anything stupid just for the fun of it? or are you always just a slug?
I don't mean to say that criticism is bad, when it is done in a constructive manner. It's the people who reduce themselves to the level of insults such as "egads..that was aweful"...or "this made my brain hurt"..or "this writer sucks"
Everyone has an opinion and has the right to voice it. But at least be respectful about it, and offer your reasonings for not liking something. Maybe offer some suggestions. But being so rude is just lame and childish. It's good to see at least some people here can appreciate others work or efforts.
You know it really makes me sick to read half these comments posted here. Half of the people who post here can do nothing more than flame. And it happens to any story written by anyone. As long as it isn't stating "Linux rules..microsoft sucks" then it's not even worth the time of posting it on slashdot. The people here with their childish attitudes (you know who you are) couldn't come close to comprehending anything written on a level such as this article. If you think you can do better, then do it. Lets see what you have to offer the world. How about being a little more open to what others have to say. If you don't like these editorials, then don't read them. Is that such a hard concept? Do you have nothing better to do than to criticize?
Personally I have been pretty anxious to get my iMac. There are all kinds of mixed reviews about them, but isn't that the case with any machine? All you can really do is try one out for yourself. There's no use in believing what everybody else has to say. I'm excited about getting one and considering getting 2 to run linux on one of them. I really don't know how LinuxPPC runs, but shouldn't the linux community be happy that you can run linux on more than just intel based machines?
Besides, who can resist having their favorite colored computer sitting on their desk to enjoy looking at? Not me! I think giving linux a try on one is not a bad idea. Like everyone has mentioned, the first revisions are pretty cheap now =)

pretty sad if you ask me.
