    Was the invention of power steering an affront to your rights? Power brakes? This is simply a further abstraction of driving (admittedly a huge one). You're being a bit melodramatic.

    That's funny, because no one forces anyone to install and use an ad blocker

    Shine blocks ads at the network level - individual users couldn't opt out, even if they wanted to. This is different than adblocking browser extensions, in that users are forced into it.
    Not that I'm against it. I use a similar system on my home network, and love it.

    Encryption will always be possible, so that is certainly not a 'concession'. Also, 'unprecedented' is a perfectly relevant word, considering the very reason that the FBI is pursuing this case is for legal precedent.

    This isn't a new 'problem', as the government would have us believe. There is no sudden urgency, save that on the part of the FBI.

    Animated 'corner ads' have been creeping in for the last few years. They certainly are distracting, and consuming more screen real estate as time goes by.

    I love me some SomaFM! I was late to the game, discovering it only last year upon installing RadioTray (Linux). I've been hooked on Groove Salad ever since, abd I don't even consider myself a fan of electronic music. But it's perfect as background music on tinny speakers.
