I don't understand why anyone modded your comment "insightful": Competition is just NOT POSSIBLE. It's not possible to have 10 or even just 3 different companies lay pipes into the ground to all houses. And don't say they could be forced to share those pipes with competitors - that's a model we have in Germany with the telephone lines of the former government-owned "Telekom" and the prices have to be set by a regulatory commission, which is a political process - no (external or Telekom.internal!) accounting in the world can give you an "accurate" picture of the "true" price, ask an accountant about the issues even if you are well-intentioned to start with, something Telekom definitely has no incentive for.
So your complaint that there is "virtually no competition" is strange, given that under no (practical) circumstances there would be competition in any case.

and the one downside they note about meat, cholesterol and saturated fats, there was just recently an article where some leading figures in medicine debunked the whole thing. Or it was part of the controversy about the change in the recommendation for statins in the US, one of them.
and by the way, quoting any individual study on pubmed is a sign that either you don't know what you are talking about, or you are deliberately misleading.
and also, nobody doubts that (as an adult! children excepted) you can eat a healthy vegan (even!) diet. But you have to do a lot of research that when eating meat too you don't have to do to have all the nutrients.
Let me guess - who didn't grow up vegetarian and who put a lot of effort into eating the right things. According to a medical lecture somewhere under [URL] you get vital nutrients like amino acids much more easily and without doing all that research into your food when you also eat meat.

I never doubted Indians have enough to eat to get fat, not sure what your point is. Also, I just relayed a comment from an Indian friend, I know nothing about the country.
A (very well educated) Indian friend of mine, when their food came up in an aside in a conversation between us, dryly commented that Indians haven't done well at any major sports. You just can't build your body very well without animal protein. That is why veganism, the extreme form, is - to put it mildly - not recommended for children.
You just beat some 5 year olds. You are sooo smart. On the other hand, a really (socially) smart person would not have spent their entire comment space here merely to congratulate themselves for the "achievement".
Sorry if that sounds pretty negative, but come on, a test for 5 years olds and here you go telling us how great you are! And it is ALL you are telling us.
The OPPOSITE is true: Vegetarians have to look out to get all nutrients. (Disclaimer: I'm talking about real meat. I won't even touch the TOPIC of what's sold as "meat" in US supermarkets, even less that stuff itself)
Google "vitamins meat vs vegetables", don't take my word for it. Also, common sense.

Good for you, I can't (edit).
What *I* don't get is how many people modded you "insightful", when the comment you reply to even SAID it is sarcasm.
Completely messed up that reply, was meant for a completely different guy. Why can't I delete or edit anything here????

...does THAT have to do with the post you replied to? Just needing to vent some frustration this fine evening, are we?
