Test equipment from basically any time period was built with top notch components and to last. Have a 6114A Precision Power Supply from 1978 that's still accurate to the last digit.
Why not just give away older versions of Windows I actually WANT to use, like Win 7, instead of pushing your fancy optimized-for-little-teen-girls touch screen bullshit. iPhone's exist for that purpose, ya know.
I would advise them to first try on an FPGA (Field programmable gate array), and just write the program in Verilog, see how many gates it needs, and then simply select an FPGA from Altera or Xilinx that fits your needs. No need for a full blown ASIC.
Honestly, Linus is just like a big whiny baby. Every time he opens his mouth, it's something like "You motherf*****, rolling out your sh**** patches with out my goddamn permission." I doubt he'll ever change. Just like Jobs.
Every frigging country does this now. The Americans care about our privacy, so they don't spy on us (sarcasm). The brits do, and they pass this info right on to the yanks at the NSA. I think every country spies on their own citizens to some degree, be it the US, China, France, Israel, GB, or Japan. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Any country that would give up a little liberty for a little security will gain both and deserve neither." That is what is happening now. *sigh*
Like most computer savvy people like us here, they assume that there communications will be intercepted, so they will go the extra step to encrypt the data before sending it out, and use prepaid cell phones.

We give their children measles and polio. That'll shut 'em up for good.
Little ARM SoC + Linux + Massive amount of flash memory = Pono Not much going on here.

Anyone who makes something similar will get sued.
The sky is blue. More at 5 o' clock from your local news leader.

It doesn't matter. They can't change anything.
