    One of the things that I find to be almost as interesting was the fact that this was NOT carried by Slashdot. It WAS submitted. I even submitted it. I asked why it was rejected, and was told by CmdrTaco himself that they were looking into it. I guess they never finished looking into it. :-) It was low of them to remove it, and very unprofessional IM(NS)HO. I hope they restore it, and appologize to Silby for deleting it.

    .... Why can't we find Silby's .plan pages anymore? Would Nugget or someone care to comment on that? I understand he was critical of what D.Net has become, but is that really reason to wipe his plan pages?

    Link works just fine here. There is also a file by the same name at ftp.sunset.se - I use Go!Zilla for downloads under windows, and it finds mirrors for me. Very handy tool. I'm grabbing the file off Borlands main site right now.

    No you moron, it hasn't. This is EASILY taken care of by two simple things, (which I did do by the way)

    #1: Don't make anything available that you wouldn't allow anonymous users to get and,

    #2: Use an account that has NO access to anything except those files. Duh.

    That's total crap! I had a cable modem before I moved, and setup a nice little FTP server for myself. *I* used it. When ever I was offsite somewhere, and needed something I could just ftp it from home. Why shouldn't I be able to do that?

    - In fact, it's right near the beginning, and kinda hard to miss! It's central to the whole show! HOW can you moderate something when you clearly haven't even seen the movie? Don't assume that JUST BECAUSE the work FUCK is in the post, that it's a troll!

    Given that this attack could be originated by someone in Europe or Asia, what sense is there in the FBI getting so involved? How will they handle the matter if it turns out that the cracker is in Lybia, or Iran or Iraq? What if he's in China ? What good does it do to try to track the cracker down, when a more productive effort would be to increase security awareness, and get people to configure thier equipment properly?

    The biggest problem I've had with my local reps is that they ignore email anyway. It's not as easy to dismiss a handwritter letter, which I've had success with every single time. It's just too easy to delete 100+ emails a day, and pretend you never got them. I think that's what they do.
