Came here to post similar. When they derive a solution that prevents this type of mishap, I hope they call it the 'Homer Principle" or something near that.

I'm fairly certain Monsanto is one of the big corporations that rule the US. Where is that chart I saw once about the major companies that own all the other companies. This has to be on there somewhere.

  7. Fine idea..if... on Omni Magazine To Reboot · · Score: 1

I think this idea is fine if they bring in a new world of "magazine" and what magazine means to people. Content is king after all. Become Flipboard's flagship news source. Master RSS/Atom syndication. Something that stands out. But don't do it the same way all over again. I think Science readers are at an all time high. Would be a grand time to have a go to source, that did it in a easy to consume manner.

  11. Human Rights on BlackBerry Helps Indian Gov't Spy On Users' Messages · · Score: 5, Insightful

Probably every constitution in the world should be amended to guarantee people the right to private, secure communication. This is probably more important than the right to bear arms when defending people's rights against rogue governments.

  12. Improvements on Aerovelo's Human-Powered Helicopter Wins $250,000 Sikorsky Prize · · Score: 1

I realize this is probably supposed to stay "human powered" but why not improve with ambient energy as well. As slow as those rotors are turning, a solar power assisted setup might alleviate some of the grueling pedaling you have to do. Though I do suppose batteries bear weight but I wonder what the trade off is for battery weight versus lift it can supply.
