I seem to recall a few books/movies by TomClancey about this very subject... and if i recall, they fought some of these issues..... per usual... all comments are subject to dismissal due to "smokin' crack".. sorry. bemis
oh yeah.. sorry.. my bad... (all those drugs my mom took while she was pregnant are starting to show)... i *KNEW* i'd read something like that in the past though. bemis
I don't remember the specifics of this -- but didn't MS plan (or actually implement) for NT5? (win2k)... as i recall it was just "customizable graphic BSODs -- for more user friendly crashes" or something like that... but the joke at the time it was announced had to do with people making them into ads...? maybe i'm on crack.. it's been known to happen before. bemis
near as i can tell it grabbed my proxy settings from my netscape4 or mozilla(m14) or ie5.5 settings (damned if i know which.. but those are the only places its setup.. my guess would be the IE ones built into windoze though).. granted my proxy doesn't require authentication or anything.. just my dos centabos bemis

It seems that yahoo has slashdot blocked... (i grabbed the file by visiting 'www.geocities.com/adonnaixg' then typing in the filename after the url (after the page was loaded).. interesting... combats the/. effect?
okay... sorry.. a quick 'jolt cola' and a quick look at the letter again pointed out my folly to me... apologies on the wasted space (of both of these). bemis
Perhaps it's been a little bit too long since I've slept, but I could have sworn that they guy who 'signed' the letter was asking not to e-mail or visit 'openssh.org'(when the legit openssh team is @ openssh.com?) and then signed the email with "name@openssh.org"... wtf? ..guess i must need more caffeine..
I hate to admit it, but in this day and age, there is a disturbing ammount of generic political-garbage (everything listed at http://www.c-span.org/campaign2000/links.asp; all the dvd/(de)css stuff; most things listed at hnn; I don't know if this is just an evolutionary skin that the 'net has grown over itself, or if it would be considered a 'continent' of its own --gotta run, time for a.sig!

actually; if i recall correctly myself; Kevin Smith was on one of the talk shows a few days ago saying that dogma was going to be out within the next 2 months; and when he went back talking abou this older movies; he said he'd spent 20k on clerks, not 2k...but also said that dogma was going to be reminiscent of clerks due to the bigger budget'd "mallrats" sorta flopping... (BTW:LOVED BWP -- scared the hell out of me... about an hour after i left the theatre.)
