I'm sad to see it go. I had pretty much quit watching the X-Files when mulder went off and have only recently been watching with his return. The Lone Gunmen was my replacement. oh well. The mulder cameo in the last episode was nice.
BTW, what the hell are they going to do to explain the season finally? probably nothing I guess.
the remote control interface should be a palm pilot or an ipaq with 802.11b wireless lan connection to access the device. You could have the option of having the wireless LAN built into the device or have hook the device over gigabit ethernet (maybe just 10bt;^)) into you local home network. The whole thing should definitely be configurable over the network with any webbrowser.
Possibly, but what if you want the new features of the 2.4 kernel (better SMP, more ram) or XFree86 support for a graphics card (I know, X support is probably not a real issue for server systems, but for development databases on a workstation it's a must). I still haven't seen anyone from oracle explain why it is they feel the need to relink their executables after the installation (this is what causes the problems). Surely oracle has plans for moving forward.
How long will it be before Debian makes a GNU/Darwin distribution to go along w/ GNU/Linux and GNU/Hurd? This is sarcasm, but wouldn't it be great if Mac OS X shipped w/ all the GNU utilities installed?
The downside to MD is that there is no support for just storing data on them. If this functionality was available I would easily switch to minidiscs. They are even incapsulated which takes away some of the durability issue of CDs.

OS X on x86?

It would be far more and interesting (and to me a better idea) if they ported OSX to sparc instead. Much better platform, could actually make a real server and there is a smaller amount of hardware.
Lucent/Orinoco has a wireless 'residential gateway' product that has a built-in 56k modem. It can also act as a bridge to an existing 10baseT LAN. It has worked excellent. I'm not sure what OS it runs though. Unfortunately, you do have to have a windows box to configure it. It just sends some stuff over the network to configure the box so it probably wouldn't be that hard to reverse engineer.

If this had been closed proprietary software we would in fact have been screwed. However, it's not, so we are not. Anyone can takeover and do a redhat based distro for sparc. Sure it might be a little behind what redhat's current release is, but it could be done is the point.
This seems like a good opportunity for Sun to step in and possibly redeem themselves a little by partnering w/ redhat to takeover the sparc port???? At least I think it would be a good idea.
I've had a panasonic notebook, it died after a year and had problems in between. I've had a Sony N505VE for about a year now and have had no problems. It's almost the perfect laptop for me if I could just replace the stupid winmodem w/ builtin ethernet and make it not run so hot. BTW, I also have a Sony receiver that hasn't worked correctly since the day I got it.
Etrade did not back down under pressure from the community. I called the hotline the same day I received the email and asked what the qualifications for the eligibility questionaire were. The woman on the phone then told me that as long as you picked "growth" and some experience you would probably get through and they don't do background checks to verify the data. This was about a week before the uproar.

I only hope that it's more compatible with oracle than 7.0 was. Although, some how I doubt it since I think this turned out to be oracle's fault.

It goes both ways.
