You go to the effort of paying for a legal license to use the software... but you do it fraudulently! (unless you really are a commercial system builder).
Actually, no, it can be perfectly legal.... the subtle differences between US and EU legislation:)
|blockquote>Why is this innovative shop against the "law?" Is this something analogous to the Sklyarov case where US media laws were extended to russia?
The problem (as far as I understand international copyright regulations, IANAL) ist that to operate a service like allofmp3, you have to acquire a distribution license from 1. The copyright holder 2. The Company producing the music/the cd
Whereas a license from the copyright holder can be acquired by russian authorities for worldwide distribution (google for "Santiago Treaty"), the license from the industry must be acquired for each country from which the service is accesible. This IMHO makes it nearly impossible to operate a download service without backing from the music industry...
just because one company can't compete does not mean the medium is dying.
news.individual.net is not even a commercial service. It used to be a project at the Freie Universität Berlin funded with subsidiaries (sp?) until 2002 and was then continued by volunteers.
I assume that the rather low monthly fee of 0.84 is only enough to keep the service running...
"Vel Satis has been awarded the maximum 5-star rating from Euro NCAP, an independant consortium. It is now the safest saloon in the executive-car segment. "
What does this say for safety ratings in Europe?
Nothing really: You get Euro NCAP Stars for good performance in crash tests. No electronics involved, just plain old metal...
Are you really that poor? I bet you live in a rolled up newspaper in the middle of the road, don't you?
A radio? We used to dream of having a radio!
Well, you don't need a radio if you're busy licking the road clean the whole day, do you? And I bet the miller won't let you listen while you work for him, either.
I was looking for a reference to Boeing's Blended Wing Body (BWB) when I posted the previous message, now I've found it. 800 passengers.
Well, passenger capacity for the A380-900 Single Class will be a maximum of 986. Howerver, normal 3-Class configuration will have a capacity off 555 (A380-800) or 656 (A380-900) passengers.
RTFA! The case was cooled by having it open and on its side.
I RTFA. The case was open and on it's side during testing. However, the article didn't say if this setup was chosen for cooling reasons or just because it is easier to change CPUs with the case placed this way.
With the case open, this thing runs at 178 degrees. In a practical sense, all the other benchmarks are less important.
Just wondering: Is the described setup with the case open & lying on its side actually better or worse for cooling?
With the case closed you have a nice airflow from the frontside fan [1] over the CPU-Cooler to the backside/PSU-Fan adding to overall cooling [2]... OTOH having the case open makes it less likely that the CPU-Cooler tries to cool the CPU with the already heated air from the case...
[1] If installed but since I noticed that HD temperatures decreased from >40C to ~20-25C just by the gentle blowing of a 7V fan over their cover all my boxes have them... [2] Like in my two Via C3 powered, passive cooled boxes:)
YAST does make configuration a doddle in most cases but since every configuration change is made to the central YAST config file and then read from there, SuSE is not easy to move around when you're used to working at the command line - I find it disconcerting in SuSE when I go to edit a config file I'm used to editing and the first line in it says "# Please use YAST to make all config changes, do not edit this file directly" or words to that effect.
Actually, there is no central YAST config file in recent SuSE editions. YAST reads from the/etc/sysconfig hierarchy, which is AFAIK LSB compliant. And it's been quite a while since YAST last changed manually edited.rc files on my system. Usually it just says something like 'Modified foo.rc found - skipping'.
And yout try and tell that the young people of today... and they won't believe you !

... Sennheiser Electronic demo'ed a prototype of a speaker with the very same technology earlier this year at the annual meeting of the german Acoustical Society (Dega). So this is not really groundbreaking news...
It's strange actually to see someone move the 'speaker' and you can hear the sound source moving through the room...
If you look very closely, you can see the speaker here:

It's only a view from the side, though (N.B. the speaker is the flat silver thing that doesn't look like a speaker;) )
Especially with those memory sticks... Sony developers seem to watch Star Trek for ideas...
But if Sony can put out a player that can hold more music than MP3-Players can store on flash-cards these days they might get away with a proprietary format...
Well, depends on the bank. I use a native linux application for online banking (moneyplex), so it is possible.
Easy. Use an online banking software independent from a browser with a decent security system (card reader).
I find the OEM argument kind of bizarre.

except for the 50% of people who don 't qualify for the OEM/ education versions.
"Qualify"? You just go to a shop, buy an OEM/SBE Version and install it. Perfectly legal - in some (most?) EU-countries...
