I agree! Where is the F*cking Service?? In New York, Time Warner (the cable TV equivalent of Microsoft) doesn't offer Cable modem access. RCN is here, but they don't provide Cable TV or Modem services outside of Manhattan.
Where I live in Queens, Bell Atlantic doesn't offer DSL, Only ISDN, which would cost me somewhere around $450 to get it installed, and about $30-$40 extra on top of my monthly phone bill.
I'm so jealous of some of my co-workers who have ADSL where they live in (Northern) New Jersey.
What Company Hires a person with no networking knowledge to setup a network?
Not Mine.
Oh, I get it, you're one of those DAU's who does nothing but complain (without knowing the facts) when you can't get something done. You sound typical of the users at the company I work for......
Your post, paticularly the last paragraph, just made day.....
Hmmm... Reminds me of an old StarTrek episode

Okay, it would be better except for that part where people report to really die....
A couple of weeks ago I was reading a thread on/. and somone put the picture in my head of legions of Quake players running around their servers blowing stuff up.
I think if countries went to war like this then the world could be a better place....
Isn't somone working on open source implementation of LVM? I remember visiting a page which tells about it in additon to somone porting linux over to (HP's) PA-RISC. I don't remember the url though....sorry.
Once other hardware manufactures see creative labs making all this $$$ from the linux community, maybe, just maybe, others will get their heads out of their asses and start coding drivers.
What risk? I got the impression that 3dfx will release the 2d specs to the banshee, I saw no mention of 3d specs....
Well, I least now I can consider the banshee as a candidate fo my new box.
And please, don't mention beowolf cluster in this thread.....

Gotta try it one of these days, when I can spare a box...
