I've been looking at this card too. You might want to take a look at The Viper 770. it has MPEG2 and TV-out.
I'm Torn between the G400MAx and TNT2 Ultra. Anyone want enlighten me as to which one I should buy? What Matrox doing in light of Nivdia Releasing all of it programing specs??
I'm shocked! I logged on from home with the intention of going to Matrox's site to preorder a G400 Max! I'm glad Slashdot is my home page!
Qestion: has Matrox released the programming specs to the G400(Max)? By all accounts, I hear its an awesome card, especially at higher resolutions.
Now I'm faced with a dillema: Should I buy the Nvidia Now or wait a couple of weeks(maybe months?) before Matrox formally anounouces what their plans for Linux are? I'm not even taking 3dfx into consideration at this point.....
Linux in a positive light.

Intel on Linux

This is great. Now what we need is for more commercial apps and more Hardware support.
Here's My Wish List:
-Quicken Deluxe and Maybe Turbo-Tax. -Hardware Accelerated 3D. (Open Source Drivers would be very nice) -Media Creation tools and Viewers (BeOS users Need not comment on this one.) -Quake 3 (already granted, I know (thanks John!!! -More Kick-ass Games like Civilization CTP -Bell Atlantic to offer ADSL in Queens NY. (I'm getting very Impatient...) -Corel Office 2000 for Linux.
There's more but I'm sleepy now so I can't think....
Zelda for N64 is easily one of the best games Nintendo has ever put out. period.
I saw on Ign64 last night that Miyamoto-san has promissed Ura-Zelda (an expansion of sorts) is on the way. As well as Super Mario64 2. And there will be more playable characters (Luigi is a given)
And Metroid 64(?) is currently in development (still in the conceptual stages though...)
This year looks promising for the N64 (Perfect Dark, Woohoo!). The only thing I see on the horizon for Sony is Final Fantasy 8.
It's good to see that Toshiba has com to their senses.
After what happened between them and the Linux IR project a couple of months ago I would never have imagined that they would actually do something like this.
I've recently Been looking for Components for a new SMP box I'm putting together. It seems that Intel is really pushing the PIII. A quick search on pricewatch shows that prices for the lower MHZ PIII's are in line with the Faster PII's.
I Chose the PII 450. I didn't want to bother with re-wiring and overclocking a Celeron300a.
>>Why not just put the mobos in the fridge and use it as a rack? =-) OC them machines...
I'd stick a dual OC'd Celeron in the Freezer:) Turn the Humidty down and drill some holes so I can run wrires (Power, NIC, KB/Mouse, and video). I'm screwed if there's a power outage and freezer thaws:(
Like the gentleman stated above, I'm all for emulation but only when the actual hardware doesn't exist anymore or is very scarce. But in Sony's case, I'd make an exception since they make the bulk of their revenue on licensing, not on the sales of the PSX unit.
Bottom line, I'd pay for this product provided that it works well and that it runs under linux.
To bleem (or connectix)if you're reading this: If you do commit to a linux port, please, I beg you! Try to code it so that it can take advantage of SMP systems.
On my way to work today, I heard on the radio (Z100) that there would be a sneek prevue of Star wars: Phantom Menace. (they said to check your local theaters) I got excited for minute but then I looked at my pager I remembered it's April 1st....
I could see that worknig for something like POSIX certification, But, even if you could get Funding for licensing for something like say, I20(TM) or DVD there's still the little matter of Non-discloser clauses.
As I understand it, part of some the licensing deal is that you can reveal any aspects of the spec (especially, if there's a competing spec). Hence, you can't distribute the source for your creation under the GPL. Or am I wong?
I fail to understand what he means by Linux costing more than NT per transaction. Does he mean Support? Could someone please enlighten me?
Unfortunatly, Mr. Muth has absolutly nothing new to say short of "Linux sucks! NT Rules!"
I'm not the least bit worried. It will be interesting to see what becomes of him when Windows 2000 is released and is deemed a failure shortly after. I'll bet Microsoft's answer will be "He was low level employee..."
Anyone care to speculate on what this will mean in terms of speed/binary size for PII chips?
I love it when something gets improved.
I can't remember the number...
Was it 18 or 24 Gigs????
Thanks to Everyone Involved!!! (apologies to RH and SGI!
PI, you guys Rock! Thank you for your Generous contribution.
I know its a work in in progress, but now this sets the stage for some killer 3d Apps.

Here's the best flash site I've ever seen.

I've alway's liked their (and IBM's) laptops.
I saw Demolition Man the other night, I'm curious to know whether or not anyone knows the answer to that....
Okay, They Openly support Linux,
I'm sold.
I placed the order this afternoon. Now all I need are some good Speakers.
Any suggestions?
Does anyone have this card? How good is the (3d) Audio, and Midi on this card as opposed to the SBLive or Diamond MX300?
Does anyone know of any Reviews?
I may just buy this card if CL or Diamond Don't get on the ball Release the Source.
Jon, No disrespect, I do think that what happened in Colorado was very tragic but I think it's time to move on....
A saying come to mind (I don't recall who said it):
Change what you cannot accept, Accept what you cannot change....
AMD is looking very nice...

Thank you!
and to the RIAA...
Kiss my ass!

This is so funny.....
Good one guys.... Imagine if zdnet or cnn picks up on this??
I'll pass this on to some of my non-slashdot reading friends and see what their reactions are...

Where I work, IPP would be a god-send. I wish you and IPP much success.
