Me- "You know, the Ogg baby! I gotta Ogg my tunes, ya know!"
Her- "Er, maybe you're in the wrong place?"
Me- "Nah, baby, I know you want gimme some Ogg."
Her- "Let me check, give me a second.... (whispers into store phone- "Security!!!!!")"...
Security- "Sir, I think you have to leave now"
Me- "Dude, I just wanna Ogg all night long!"
Sec- "Sir, we do not appreciate this behavior in this store."
Me- "What are you talking about, Ogg is the shizzle nizzle, baby!"
Sec- "Sir, I insist that you leave NOW."
Me- "Man, whatever happened to being in Ogg Funkytown! This is so RIAA MPAA DRMed non-Oggness that I'm just gonna go!"...
Her- "What was that about?"
Sec- "I'm not sure, but I think he was looking for an egg in some funky type of town. And it looks like he peed on the floor. Must have been on drugs."
Not to be harsh or anything, but basing your purchases on an easy to learn input on a system sounds rather, ah, silly. I didn't know the 2 button trick until I read the post above, and it took me about 30 seconds to work it without having to think about it. Even the 2 finger scrolling method took me longer to get used to.
You should have gone with the 15" model. The screen space on mine is, and I hate to use the word, awesome.
Question- what do you mean by the external and internal screens not mirroring? Different pictures or different resolutions? And how do you do that- I haven't tried yet but either sounds like it could be useful.
This is the kind of crap which makes me feel almost guilty for admitting in believing in a higher power. Yes, I believe in God, yes I'm a Christian, but yes, I do believe in evolution, science (I'm an engineer!), and that Terrell Owens is a goofball. I don't push my views on anyone, rarely talk about it except to my family, and only when stuff like this comes up. Even here on/. I've seen people say "I believe in God", and then a bunch of atheists (well, I guess they are atheists) drub the poor guy/gal for basically being a moron. Hey, I believe in an afterlife- why the hell do you care so much that you have a need to take potshots at my own personal belief? I'm not commenting on your arguments how Frodo could take out Obi-Wan while Commander Ivanova is making out with Riker, am I? (Note to self- need to write a book tomorrow)
Ok, say the majority DID know it was a mistake, and the rest just thought they got a really great deal somehow. PROVE which ones knew. Still morally wrong, but figure out the illegal people.
If the online order page receipt and the mailed invoice with the shipment were different, then there is a problem. If they both had the same price and you were overcharged and you didn't catch it, too bad for you. If Amazon's online order page receipt and the mailed invoice were the same, and Amazon didn't catch it, too bad for Amazon.
Without reading any of the comments, all I can say is...
What the fuck!
The girl's computer may be hacked? That makes it a crime? Now that we replaced Polariods with digicams everything is illegal? Guess I better burn down my house to make sure that the Polariods with previous girlfriends (all the same age) are gone. DOn't want 17 year old charges to screw up my life now.
Nifty book named "Fallen Angels" where in the near future anti global warming folks manage to get rid of all the greenhouse gases and such. Guess what... the world plunges into an ice age rather quickly. Politicians of course keep blaming technology to the point of outlawing sci-fi books, movies, etc. The only tech savvy people are the ones stranded on an orbital space station. The fallen angels are 2 people who were scooping some atmosphere to replenish the station's air, and get shot down. Sci-fi fans try to help them, there is naked dancing on a glacier (seriously), and stuff happens.
I wonder if this could be related to the problem I had with my Macbook Pro. After about 2 weeks my power board blew out (fixed for free by Apple, though). I just wonder if they have a circuit leak somewhere.
(For whatever it's worth, the tech said since my 'Book is a new model, they would either fix it or replace it - my choice- to determine if there was any manufacturing problems. I also got it repaired in 3 days. Just info.)
I'm taking a grad course in infosec, and our prof told us about a case where an engineering student found a vulnerability in his department's website. Wasn't even looking, just stumbled upon it. He reported it to his adviser, who told the department, and it got fixed. The next semester someone exploited the mathematics department's site, and the first person they questioned was the engineering student. Different department, different exploit, but they focused on him first since he reported a vulnerability. They eventually found the real person responsible.
We ended up having a good 30 minutes of discussion about IT ethics. Obviously this case is different, but look at the case with the engineering student- what if they didn't find the person? Would they blame the engineering guy just to have someone to blame?
Just makes me wary of ever telling someone that their front door is open- "How did you know! You trying to break in!"
I'm a member of IEEE, so I get the magazine. Here are the rest of the dream jobs (I'll leave their names out):
Electric Detective- basically an electric/electronic CSI Computerized Paleeontology- Uses neat equipment to help find fossils (he likes dinosaurs) Bird watcher? - tracks birds with cellphone tech (he likes birds) Volcano wathcer- installs and maintains volcano sensors on the Soufriere volcano (his hometown) Lap top girl Laser light show- designs and produces laser light shows. Also holds laser safety programs. Electric sport cars- designs, builds, and races high speed electric cars (up to 130 km/hr with 1 G acceleration) Chess master- built what is considered the best computer chess program (he likes chess) AI robot designer- makes AI robots Wireless wildman- installs wireless networks in remote places, such as the Napaski Nation (about 1100 miles south of the arctic circle in Canada) - says he likes to fish
I was only pointing out one point about the iTunes DRM. I like Macs (I own one), but I personally don't know if licensing OS X would be good or bad for Apple; in this sense, could Apple do a PC OS X software only and still survive? I don't know. I like my laptop, even if is cost a couple of hundred dollars more. I'm not rich, I got lucky since it was a surprise Xmas present that my wife told me she saved for 3 years to buy me this laptop.
And of course no one told Apple not to let you run OS X on whatever PC hardware. Did anyone tell Nintendo they should run Halo?
Me- "Hey, baby, you got an Ogg player here?"

Disclaimer- not a real story
Ah, gotcha. Good points.
Do you set this from the Displays preferences?
To be fair, the 7200RPM is only available on the 17".
Ah, my poor beloved Amiga. I will have a little space of irk in my heart for Commodore tanking it. I used that baby until 1994 or so.
Question- what are the things Windows has that you like that OS X doesn't? Just wondering.

But it's your money, your decision.
Excellent! I completely missed this when setting up my preferences on my new Macbook Pro. Thanks.

Sorry for the rant.

Wouldn't that be the weapons of mass confusion?
Yeah, well at least you'll get that guy from Ohio State, rather than the 76ers who decided to play well since we got rid of Iverson.

Great read.
We are... PENN STATE!
Once again, repeat after me...
Apple is a hardware company.
It is not Microsoft. It is not a software company.
Just because something _can_ be doesn't mean it _should_ be.
California and New Jersey- 2 of the most controlling states (except for illegal immigrants, but that's a totally different story).

No, they were looking at him as a culprit, not as an info source.

Ok, I'll agree with you there.
I don't use QT to play full screen, and I have not needed to use QT in full screen. Like I said, I'm still new with this.
Thanks for pointing that out, though.
(Seriously, no sarcasm)
Whoa, there...

People have gotten Vista beta 2 to work on boot camp. Also there is talk that Leopard will include boot camp and will run release version of Vista.
