I'd like to see what happens when the RIAA is swamped in complaints and threats of lawsuits from ISPs of their "target" customers.

Imagine this: If the RIAA were to actually make a move on this threat, there could be some serious side-effects. RIAA systems causing major traffic congestion at the offending customer's ISP, possible equipment failures, and overall rise in tech support costs when customers begin to complain about these problems are a few examples.

I would have to say that you hit it right on the nail there. I'd love to see the government taking a serious interest in developing alternative energy solutions which provide energy with near fossil-fuel efficiency and price. Then, aside from exporting and importing goods, America would be a truly independant nation.

Right now, we can't survive without the Middle East. It's a very sick thing.

According to a poll taken by the U.S. government which was referenced on NORML, nearly 77 million Americans admitted to smoking marijuana within their lifetime, and 20 million of those within the last year. For the sake of error, let's add an extra 5 million to the previous total of 77 million to compensate for the amount of Americans that were afraid to even admit using the drug, thanks to our government's continuous anti-marijuana propaganda.

So, do you still think "drug" use isn't common?

I know that I should really read the documentation, but I figure there are a few Slashdotters that would just as easily answer my question with examples of their own personal experience..

I've heard from a few people that SPARC support (specifically, sun4m) in 2.4.x isn't as solid/fast as it was in 2.2.x kernels. Currently, I'm running 2.2.19 on a few SPARC systems that require it, and I'd like to hear some 2.4 experiences before I consider giving it a go on any of the systems.

    Thanks.

If you needed a system to sit ,exposed to the internet, I cannot recommend OpenBSD strongly enough. If you need a system to serve data quickly using inexpensive hardware, FreeBSD has many performance advantages, even over the linux 2.4 tree. And, if you want Unix on your Atari Falcon, go grab NetBSD, you nutcase. =)

Most of this is true, but I'd just like to say that NetBSD is just about as secure as OpenBSD under most circumstances. NetBSD has actually submitted a number of fixes for problems that were only caught by OpenBSD developers later on. Sure, NetBSD doesn't perform code auditing as extensively as the OpenBSD group, but they do their own auditing routinely, as well as import OpenBSD fixes which apply to the system.

NetBSD also seems to be more progressive in both their hardware (devices supported per-port, not amount of ports) and application support.

Don't get me wrong; I love OpenBSD as well, but NetBSD is not just an OS to run on your obscure hardware - it is a very much complete BSD, worthy of all the prestige given to the other two BSD projects.
