Look at the status of your network connection in dialup and networking in control panel and it will tell you how long the connection has been up, which will probably be how long the pc has been up for too.
Sharereactor/Edonkey cannot be flooded with damaged or renamed files and neither can any other network/client that relies on hashes of the downloads to ensure the file is the same.
As for using loads of bandwidth by doing loads of useless searches in an automated way, it would be very interesting to see how the different networks coped with this, especially the "next gen" edonkey, which is called "flock" and is in beta, and is supposed to use no servers...
The card game in FF9 sucked donkey's balls compared to the one in FF8. The card game in FF8 was the best sub-game ever! IMO it was the extra complication they added to the rules for the FF9 card game that made it not as fun- it just became too difficult to grok the problem space, whereas in the FF8 one you could just about do it...
In the UK the PS2 came with a BASIC interpreter on the demo disk and you could just plug any usb kb into it- I used the one of my iMac. I thought it was really cool of Sony to include this, as it kind of brought back warm memories of getting a new 8 bit micro and checking out its BASIC for the first time.;)
Edonkey with sharereactor.com. No more fake files. Problem solved.
This is why we need communities of IP non-respecters instead of every-man-for-himself downloading based on the file name looking like what you want to download.
I just realized that books are the one media that will continue to be sold and re-sold for the forseeable future. As someone who is currently replacing all his CDs, Videos, DVDs with digital equivalents I can see that sales of 2nd-Hand films and music will fall off in the next few years because a lot of people will be "pirating" their own DVDs, computer games, albums and videos then selling them; once everyone is doing this there will be nobody buying originals to sell on.
With books however we still haven't got to the stage where the electronic "rip" is as good as owning the original. I think it will take years before portable readers are as good as real books (in terms of ease of reading, battery life, portability etc).
The other thing that may happen is that it becomes feasible to print a book to read it then recycling the paper. I think the price of ink in a format to suit a printer will always make this uneconomical though.
1) I didn't exactly "slam" the poster, I merely offered information, which the poster agreed was correct.
2) It's a while since I did my Psychology degree, so I had to recheck the DSM-IIIR, but I was in fact right, and the code 300.14 is given to "Multiple Personality Disorder".
3) " both dissociative identity disorder and schizophrenia work for the joke." Haha, jokes about debilitating mental illnesses- I'm really laughing.
With even people who know the definitions of words misusing them for the benefit of people who don't, what hope for the English language, the human race ?
It's funny that in the UK all the ads for SKY+ feature Joe Average and his family stealing a sky+ box from a X-Files style bunch of black-clad people who chase them in black cars and helicopters.
The idea is to make the sky+ system seem like an alien technology that must not fall into the public's hands but I found it funny for other reasons.
I doubt if /. ever did a story on the 8086 coming out, but that doesn't stop a story on it being WAY OLD NEWS.
;) heh heh, I'm a bitch.
If you're Lord Omlette then I think the eggs should have been allowed to live!

"I still want FF IX and FF X on the PC."
Unfortunately they made such a mess of the conversion of 7, and particularly 8 that PC sales were poor, therefore they stopped bothering.
Go buy a PS2 and play the games the way they were meant to be played! (I think FF9 works on the PS2).

I'm cool with being sent in this "destroy the original and recreate" thing so long as they don't transmit the UDP...

Final Fantasy would have been much better....
If it actually was Final Fantasy and not Aliens/Starship Troopers.
Chocobos ? Black Mages ? Summons ? Ultima ?
The only thing that made it "Final Fantasy" was that there was a character called Sid in it.

In your first example an adjective is used; two things are said both to be "intelligent"; in your second example two nouns are said to both be a noun.
I imagine they have taught it that "animal" has sub-classes.
