Except he's paying for the bandwidth to copy it, not directly preventing someone else from playing or selling it. I agree that piracy does have an affect on sales, but it's not a good analogy to equate it to theft. He hasn't comondeered physical property, but made a working copy with his own resources.
Interestingly, the 3D printer industry is startign to center on molecular assembly. In 15 years time, people may very well be "downloading" the information required to "print" a BMW. Kinda neat.
Thats a gre point. I'm a huge ninty fan and am intrigued by the ps3, but honestly I think I might just go score a pstwo and ffxx-whatever and be done with it until 2008.
I admire Valve for the same reason I do Nintendo - impeccable gameplay design. Did you know they built and scrapped Team Fortress 2 twice before settling on the current version? It that kind of dedication and innovation that makes a brand. You really have to respect that.
I think the reward is perceived better (and therefore is) when you delay gratification. Kind of like the zen mindfulness, not thinking about the dishes while you drink your tea.
Yeah my gf hates games too. Im hoping the wii will entice her, but she's still resistent. I just hope the actual eexperience changes that.
PS You know you're not getting a wii the 19th;) But you may be abl to snag it that saturday night at midnight, which isnt really sunday. Just don't blow your date money!
It'd be nice but if only 5% of the market will actually use 1080p then you can hardly blame Nintendo for not supporting it. But it would be nice to see hi-res for internet and photo browsing.
Hmmm, judging by your sentence structure I'd say you were driven to drink quite recently!;)
But your point is sound. Most gamers play at 1280x1024 and I'd be hard pressed to find a *popular* game that will stress out a 6800GT. Sure, the games coming out this winter will render that card defineably mid-range, but it still competes in the big leauges overall.
GPU vendors need DX10 in a bad way, I'd say. There's very little else beyond ultra-high resolution thats stressing high end cards these days, and the market that's capable of that is quite small.
I looked around and I guess I spoke too soon. GalCiv uses multithreading for the AI appartently. Quake3 had multi processor support as well, don't know if it did any good though.
It was a legitimate question. It would be more helpful to explain why Kentsfield would be comparabe to Kentsfield in Crysis than huffing off. I was merely curious to know if this would have an impact in the case of a game made 64 bit compatible, not spamming FUD.
Currently the only game in the near future that will take advantage of multithreading is Crysis, shortly followed thereafter by HL2:EP2. In the case of Crysis, lead designer Cevat Yerli is quoted as saying that they are "scaling the individual modules, like animation, physics and parts of the graphics with the cpu, depending how many threads the hardware has to offer" (incrysis.com). But he has also stated that the game will get a 10-15% boost per thread in a 64bit environment compared to 32bit. If this is true, then what are the implications on performance when operated in AMD's upcoming 4x4 processer?
The AMD 4x4 is pure 64bit, so does this mean that when compared to Kentsfield, a quad 32bit processor, Crysis would behave 40-60% (4x10% or 4x15%) faster?
In a strange twist of fate, seeing that the CoH developer was sued by Marvel, Marvel Universe Online is actually being developed by the CoH guys. Kinda cute, actually.

I'm a fangirl you insensitive clod!
Oh shit, now we've got to worry about global cooling!
I think Mario Soccer, in feb, was the last one. Even Zelda on GCN won't get released this year.

I bet you feel a lot better now.
Psychonauts is getting released on Steam, so that seams like some good recognition.
MPU. This is a lot more inteligent then some of the other "funny" posts.

Ah shit, who got the millionth UID?
This is hilariuos bc that's exactly what they're doing with the extra horsepower these days.
Haha, Saildot, news for boats, stuff that blows.

Nintendo moved from Taxis to "love hotels" before they started making game consoles. Nintendo is even adapting to the game marletplace right now.

It's comments like these that make slashdot need a +1 Ironic modifier, or a +1 In Your Face.
Just read the orginal source material. It's more interesting and detailed.

DIdn't Jobs update the Mac mini line with Core 2 Duos? If so, than new minis would be compatible with Kentsfield.

Marvel Universe is being developed by the CoH people, you shall have pleanty of people to play with soon and the gameplay you enjoy to boot.
