"It's exhilarating to see such visceral confirmation of the superior efficiencies of free market capitalism. If the scientists working for this cancer research corporation didn't have the profit motive behind them, who knows how long it would have taken for them to reach this point in their research, that is, if the project had even gotten off the ground at all!"
"Those hands in the picture belong to such a social group, though it is quite apparent that they will die very soon - either due to starvation from lack of pizza, or fighting over the last few slices."
"The future of government run health care is the future of unelected bureaucrats deciding whether or not your treatment is "cost effective". Care that may have saved your life might not be covered if it doesn't meet the cost benefit analysis."
All Hail the mighty Invisible Hand of the Free Market. Aetna's cost benefit analysis is SUPERIOR to the evil socialist cost benefit analysis of Teh Evil Government! Aetna's unelected bureaucrats PWN the Civil Service unelected bureaucrats!
To reiterate, the stench of Randroid droppings is thick and heavy in the air today. Tinged with more than a hint of rancid teabaggery.
"I recommend reading "Fallen Angel" by Larry Niven."
Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle had very little to do with writing "Fallen Angels", other than the cocktail napkins they scrawled a few ideas and plot points upon.
Michael Flynn did all the heavy lifting when it came to actually writing the book.
Between ground.zero.612, and an Anonymous Coward, the punk ass nazi bitch contingent of/. has been well represented.
All that's missing is the League of Mindless Randroids, lecturing us that the Free Market and the Inerrant Thought of Chairman Rand DEMANDS that everyone being tested should be forced to pay for the testing, because anything else would be SOCIALISM!
Seriously, when did some Americans become such ignorant, cowardly, pants wetting wussies?

"I do not download movies or songs from torrent sites because the risk is too high."
Too true!
If only there was SOME way to use the net to safely download the latest.
What news this would be to groups of people seeking an alternative to bit torrent for their binary files.
Oh, Internet! Why have you failed us so?

Jeebus! How is wishing I had mod points so that I might have modded up the message I was referring to "Off Topic"?
I swear, some of these slashdotters are SO OCD.
Get a life, move out of your mother's basement. KISS A GIRL!
Would that I had mod points right now!
"It was totally sarcastic all the way, I'm kind of dismayed that this line of thinking is so ingrained here that it wasn't more obvious."
Indeed! I'm sure you felt it was SO over the top, it could not possibly be mistaken for a serious comment.
Considering the genuine Randroids & Glibertarians that comment here, it really is damned hard to distinguish sincere from satire.
My sincere apologies if I gave offense to you!
To the Randroids and Glibertarians who took offense, please, have some more!

That's always how it seems to end in my case.
Your words confuse me greatly.
Even Randroids have mod points, it seems.

Aetna plans to drop six hundred thousand subscribers, because the stockholder profits are not high enough .

Someone open a window and break out the air freshener!

I am well aware of how the Mars cameras work, having done a metric shitload of B&W "color" photography via filters myself.
And you, obviously, know exactly dick about not being an asshole.
FYI, the color camera on the Mars Rovers.
One Megapixel. Really spiffy and detailed images of the Martian landscape for only one megapixel, don't you think?
Also, TFA states he's using OCR to create a PDF.
If the image from the camera is sharp enough, the OCR software should have no trouble "reading" it.
Here comes the Publisher's Copyright Enforcement Gundams to give you "What For!".
Imagine that, thinking you could actually DO Something like that with your very own property.
What cheek!

I think you might be correct in your Insightful comments.
(those with mod points, please mod Dr. Spork's comments up. Thank you.)
Mininova included far too many torrents on private trackers. Sort of defeating the purpose of BitTorrent, actually.
No great loss, all things considered.

Ah, well. I guess /. gives modpoints to Randroids as well as normal people.
