The former Cablevision of Massachusetts offices can CHANGE the channel rom the office. Although it can only change it to channel 2. But I guess it is their way of making you watch WGBH(local PBS)!:-)
well, as he said in the article, if the FAA doesn't let him, he'll haul himself and the rocket south of the border to Mexico. Heh, then Mexico will have it's own space program!:-)
Futher proof people from oregon are a tad crazy:-)
But seriously, I hope he pulls this off. I'll laugh my ass off seeing a man make a rocket with his own cash, blast himself into space and LIVE for fraction of what it would cost NASA to do the same.
You mentioned AT&T is your ISP, if it's ATT@home, this will help:)
@home uses DHCP, and the IP can and will change about once a week. However! Your hostmask will NOT change, it will remain static, and it will always point to your current IP. For example, rcw-work mentioned his hostmask was cx54499-b.dt1.sdca.home.com. No matter what his IP address changes to, the hostmask will not change, but will resolve to the right IP address:-)
Logitch's iFeel mouse can do some force feedback like stuff I believe. How cool would it be if this technology could be programmed for Quake, UT, Tribes, etc...
I know what you mean. Back in the fall of 2000 I got a extremely severe case of ulcerative colitis. After nearly bleeding to death(for your lunch's sake, I won't go into detail on that), I was brought into Beth Israel here in Boston. The doctors tried another form of medication, immuno-supressents(yes, they do what the name implies. They screw your immune system), which failed, the decision was made to remove my colon altogether(I was, and still am 20 years old, too).
I was recovering in the hospital recovering for about 2 more weeks, and was discharged on nov 23rd, right before Thanksgiving. It's amazing how it felt to get out of the hospital. 2nd maybe only to the fact that even though I now lack a large intestines, I do not have a colostomy bag(reworked internal plumbing). Anyways, after the whole experience, I did appriacate life more. heh, guess you can only truly appriacate life after nearly dying.
Oh, and the surgery didn't hurt....that is, until I woke up afterwards;)

Actually, for most DVDs with previews, ads, etc, just hit the next chapter button and you skip the preview altogether(though it needs to be done for each preview)
Everyone wants fast, cheap internet. However, the bigger you get,the larger your support staff(tech support, admins, field techs for cable/dsl providers, etc). And high speed data networks cost more than regular dial-ups anyways. That means more money needed. It's a vicious cycle.
$200 for a modem to recieve, but not send, at 400 kbps? Now factor in the cost for the uplink. This is a bad deal. And even if it could send as well, it would be completely horrid for games, since the latency would be so high...
This actually sounds pretty damn cool, and with a little luck will provide some nice compatition for nVidia. Since 3Dfx went bye-bye, I have been a little worried that nVidia would be the only real gaming card supplier(well, I guess that depends on if you count ATi)
I can believe, "it'll work with Linux, but we'll disable the useful features for anything non-MS based", but I doubt that MS will make it fully Linux xompatible...
While I like the idea of protecting kids, this law is not the answer. Perhaps parents should try to spend more time with their kids. Parents complain that kids watch all this evil stuff on TV and see it on the Internet, but perhaps those parents should step in and establish rules on what their kids can watch. As a parent they HAVE that right, after all. And as the saying goes, which proves true for laws like CIPA, "The road to hell is lined with good intentions"
You mean British companies can't patent obvious business ideas to act as leverage to crush compition...you mean they will ACTUALLY have to compete?! If the Britians can compete, we American businesses are DOOMED!
IBM does, using a form of the PowerPC processor they call 'Gecko'(see here). It's the x-box that uses Intel chips

You're right, WGBH is a pretty good PBS station, they also show Robot Wars, which is SO much better than BattleBots :-)

Ironically, Macs can use that memory you found on PriceWatch.

When Apple lawyers aren't busy sueing 16-year-olds, they are sueing people who make things look like their OS.
That's fast enough to make Speed Racer jealous!
But seriously, don't aircraft going at those speeds do more environmental damage? I think I heard something about that in high school....

Actually... according to what it said on Lain's Navi, she was running Copland. Oh, and her first navi was actually a 20th Anniversary Mac.
