IT is great if you are trying to get popular things, it is crap if you are trying to get niche stuff.
I will be installing the Itunes sofware in my Windows Vmware emulated machine tonight, the obvious ease of use of Itunes and now the offer of unencumbered DRM music are winners for me.
At least we are not teaching creationist nonsense in our schools....
One of the few things that really works in Mexico is the educational system. It is far from perfect, but it has been churning our people that could do better if the economic situation had developped at the same speed. Shame really.
YOu don't have to pay for any of the services offered by the Catholic church.
If you do, then you are in the presence of a corrupt priest who should be reported to his superiors.
If you want to speak your mind do so informed. Tha catholic church, like any human institution, hast its share of good and bad people, but institutionally speaking it is not geared towards collecting money, as so many US religious institutions seem to be (perhaps because it is based nowadays mostly in poor countries, where people have little or nothing to give).
Speaking your mind based in misinformation and misunderstading is the worst kind of abuse of such freedom.
... I have to object to such moronic, uninformed and insiduous statement.
The catholic church is far more complex than what you think you know about it. In many countries around the world it is the only organization that brings some hope and help to the poorest of the poorest, the most ardent Catholics normally have very little to give to the Church, so your idiotic portrayal can be debunked with ease.
Having said that many people in the hierarchy make the best out of it for personal gain, but when I compare the unashamed money making activities of other "churches" (for lack of better name) in the US, the Catholic church is quite a decent institution in comparision, the people making money out of it at least pretend to be pious, all the preachers of markeeting one sees in the US in the other hand, oh dear me.
Some randomness in the physics of the Univers ensures that not everything id pre-determined, not even when the Universe exploded.
But still, your statemnt is mostly correct, life has no intrinsinc meaning and we have to make the best out of this turth instead of deluding ourselves with religious nonsense.
Most people in Europe do not go to church at all (only 25% do in the UK) and according to a study done a couple of years ago, the more "atheist" countries in the world where South Korea, Japan and the UK (countries where curiously the bio sicences are porgressing quite fast).
And so on.
You really leave in a fantasy world if you think the UE and the US are very similar.
They share some comon traits, but in most others the difference could not be starker.
In the UK they have tried to give to private industries rein on services that have been traditionally run by the state.
Trains? Unreliable, unfrequent, umcofrtable (and still susidized, otherwise they would be even more expensive), but still some how, the CEOs and other fat cats get richer even when the companies underperfomr.
Water? Pipes are breaking all over London but the companies that now own the infrastructure keep being sold (who would not like to have a captive market?) making millons for the parties involved, but still water is wasted and somehow the companies don't touch their profits in order to fix the infrastructure.
Health Services? SInce competition was introduced hospital have been closing. For sure the most "efficient" remain, but most peoplr would prefer an inefficient hospital in their own locality than one efficient one far away from where they live.
IT procurement? Do not make me laugh. The UK IT sector is the bone of many jokes, even by lay persons, when it comes to represent all what is wrong with private procurement for the government.
Defense? One word: Eurofighter.
Anyway, my point is that many people put far too much faith in private enterprise when there are many examples of how unreliable private companies can be as well when providing public services.
If governments of corporations would be the only ones able to comission works, I would not care, art is art, who is the patron is the least important thing (as history has shown).
We, the small people, could form arts syndicates to comission artistic work (books, music, sculptures, even films), unlike the times when the church or nobility ruled, in democratic societies citizens can organize themselves in any way thes see fit to provide for their needs.
Copyright is an artificial construct, many people thing is an inalienable right, but in reality is a device that some people thought could be good, and that now people that have benefitted from it are trying to preserve and extend by all means possible, but it is by no means the natural order of things and we could get away with it if it ceases to serve its purposes (which IMHO it has).
Since the risk would be too high for a single publisher maybe several publishers would band together, each publishing different versions of the book (illustrated, paperback, "adult" edition, etc).
Good writers would get paid, your dilemma is not such.
Whay should anybody make bussiness with a company that is breaking the law so many times?
Why should one not hate a company as dishonest and immoral as Microsoft?
They have gained their accolade of haters with dexterity, denying this is a valid, the most valid I would say, of reasons to luck for alternatives is incomprehensible to me.
You can use wathever music player you damn please from now on and you can use those tracks in any way you want. No bullshit.
That is what those extra cents per track give you.
But still you want to be blind, alas, be blind.
.... they will make you feel young and beautiful.
I have said it many times, and I say it here: I will not buy DRM music.
And I am installing Itunes tonight to check non DRMed music.
Pirating is cumbersome, illegal and counterproductive (I have never ever pirated musci by the way).
You don't really needa all your music in your music player.
YOu can safely delete 20% of it, fill it with something else and in all likelyhood you will barely notice.
There is so much music there that you will never hear it all even if you devoted 2 or 3 hours a days for the next several years.
IT is great if you are trying to get popular things, it is crap if you are trying to get niche stuff.

Funnily enough, we are Mexican.
She only has 40 years of experience teaching at primary and secondary level (6 to 15 years old children).
She says "mijo, dile al señor en la computadora que es un soberano pendejo".
I would translate it for you, unfortunately Mexican swearing words are not my speciality when it comes to translation.

Biological labs all around the world make a living out of it actually.
And what about selective breeding?
The history of the AIDS virus is well known and the reports of how th virus has evolved is well documented.
Resistence to killer agents (insecticide, antibiotics) is a well known pehomenon, firmly rooted in evolution theory.

.... is that religious people are ordered to conform with authority.
And many do, as evidencied by the painful lack of accountability demanded by the religiou right in the US when they get their man in office.
And decreassing.

10% are classiied as ethnic minorities.
You get out of London or other major mixed areas and see nothing but natives.
The Holly Inquisition ideas resonated with Keppler and Galileo, that is why they researched and presented idease based in observed evidence.
....
Er....
Wait a minute
.... and if you are behaving like an ass they could ban you and even initiate legal proceedings against you.
Do you want Google's legal team after you? Nope.
.... it is a plausible excuse to not comply with a law saying it is difficult to do so?
Your are sidelining with Viacom because don't understand what the law says.
When one is objective (which I suppose you are) but misinformed one qill reach the wrong conclussions.
You know he was talking about older times.
His point stands, no matter your trickery pockery.
Working hard entitles you to absolutely nothing but what is says in your employment contract.
Teachers work hard, make little. Some music pop stars get high, work little, earn millions.
... then no wonder it vanished in a cloud of Chinese smoke.
I can also dream with a pie in the sky, I am sure one day I will keep it after I have eaten it.

Ballmer is stating in no uncertain terms that they will emforce their "Intellectual Property" tights.
Now pray tell us, where is MS more likely to start digging? In stuff they developed themselves or in stuff completely unrelated to their efforts?
Ballmer is asying they masy sue, and they even made a deal with a company to stop suing them.
What other elements do you need to wake up and smell the coffee? That they start culling penguins?
