Your residence (in most countries) mandates where you pay income tax.
Being a Londoner you will be familiar with the name Mohamed Al Fayed. He moved to Switzerland in order to save taxes, in spite of making more of his bussiness in the UK.
The problem is tha in the US each state is basically an entity on its own right and many things can't be regulated in a sane way at a federal level.
So somebody that is in charge of the.mobi domain (a DNS convention) is sintending to dictate how people develop stuff that could be referenced there...
Has it ocurred to these troglodites that what may happen is that people use IP addresses only (nowadays Google or any other search engine is pretty capable to find a site, DNS name or not) or put their websites in domains where the responsible people are not nuts?
I wish them all the failure they deserve on this idiotic enterprise....
Honestly, any self respecting company should provide you support for longer than that.
In software that has been comoditized (like Office suites, data bases, operating systems, etc) people are not upgrading every couple of years.
Most people are using Win200 and older, Solaris 8 (how old is that!), MacOS or Linux in earlier incarnatins of the different distros.
If you are serious about your computing, the last thing you need is to replace a working configuration every couple of years (no, if you are a PC gamer you are not serious about your computing, you are a rich elitist posseur).
And before the insensitive clod jokes show up (sorry if you are an unemployed amputee) I thnk the above is a fair generalization to make.
Get 4 mice, as different as possilbe one from each other and then make sure you also use both of your hands.
I for example have 2 rodents in the office and 2 more at home.
In the office I use the left hand, at home I use the right hand (dirty, dirty you old dirty you) and increase variety by changing mice every couple of weeks or so (now this is all sounding very fishy).
..... then their reply to such answers should be "I don't know", not to cowtoe nonsense that gives people with their own agenda, political power.
Preachers and other similar types can be as arrognat as they want in the good old US of A. Heck, they can call for assasination of foreing heads of state and get just an slap in the wrist.
But as soon as a rational person is equaly defiant on his beliefs (which are based on facts, at least on intent) then the labels are produced faster than George Bush appointing a cronnie to a position of power.
You see? That is exactly the problem with religious people involved in science.
Science is banging loudly in anybody prepared to listen's head how the world, heck, the Universe, is really working, but here you are, letting your dogma cloud the issues.
Darwinian mechanisms are machinistic, unpredictable and purposeless. And it is precislely this what scared first Darwin, that was a devout Christian but saw clearly the implications of his discoveries, and later the Churches, that immediatley realized that Darwinian theory had the potential to leave the jobless. Darwin died a very troubled man, and for very good reasons.
The differences are irreconciliable, there are things that are logically unattainable, one of them is reconciling religious dogma (any dogma) with rationality.
if you are religious your dogmas will eventually hinder the rational understanding of reality around you. There is no way around that fact.
If you are a rational person and you obtain irrefutable proof that there are willful forces guiding or designing the reality that sorrounds us, then you will accept that reality.
This difference in my opinion shows clearly which people are valuable for progress and which ones are a potential hindrance.
The US dismantled, rightly, the Taliban regime, because they were harboring people that have just orchestrated a vile attack in US soil.
Had the Taliban cooperated with the US in catching Bin Laden and dimsantling terrorist training camps, they would still hold power and be free to execute women in football fields.
Fortunately for people in Afghanistan rabing megalomaniac murderers are so narrow ideologically that the seed of their own destruction are in the nonsense they spouse: the Taliban could never handle bin Laden to the US because he was a fellow "Muslim" (which none of them is btw, they break so many teachings of Islma that it is just ridiculous), and Muslims ares suppossed to protect each other.
Stop drinking the kool-aid of US moral authority. If th US was acting based on moral considerations it would be aiming its obscene military complex elsewhere, at least in Iraq we had a secular country that was more lse contained and in general terms peaceful.
Now we have a country that may go into civil war, braking apart which would immediately involve the niehgbours (Turkey and Iran).
Check for the brain, once it is fully formed you can be considered human, otherwise you are not capable of any humanity at all and can't be considered anything but a primitive organism. Derive an statistical measure of that to make it practical and define abortion limits based on that. Before a fetus becomming fully human a mother should be guranted pretty much whatever she wants in reagrds to the fetus. Once the fetus gets a fully formed brain and nervous system then it should enjoy msany of the rights all humans have, but remembering that the mother should have precedence since at the end she is a fully formed human been.
And lets use the correct terms, as long as a forming organism is not born it is not called baby, it is called fetus. Part of the problem dealing with people opposed to a real scientific discussion is the hijacking of terms using emotionally charged words.
Me here using OO.org for the best part of 3 years for my Open University assignments and have not noticed.
This is a non issue for anybody that looks at the cost of the alternative, not only in monetary terms, but also in terms to access to your own data.
I don't care if it takes a bit longer fo OO.org to do this or that task, at the end I have a document that I am pretty certain I will be able to open and manipulate in a few years time, and I will not have to pay anybody for such privilege if I don;t want to.
Keep putting your data in the hands of the beast, eventually you are going to be deprived of it and will be charged to access it when you more need it.
.... when you have never been in a situation of real danger.
I will not presume you have not been in such a situation, but I have been under situations in which we were losing 10 mega bucks per hour, due to total computer meltdown, the consequence of somebody being "daring".
In other ocassion I had 100 machete welding, angry, threatening peasants protesting in front of the office because we have screwed the maps that marked their plots in a land privatization scheme. Some brave Sys Admin had decided to make a run of the maps and, taking an iniciative that was not his to take, he sent them to the regional Land Registry Office. A broing, slimy, progress stopping middle manager had told him to wait for some data that was still missing, just in case, just to check. Well, the coward was right.
In yet another occassion I was tasked to redo a reporting system for a big University (300000 students back then) from COBOL to ALGOL (many moons ago). Other programmers had screwed this kind of work in the past, which led to demonstrations, burning of buses and jolly generalized violence. The steady hand of a manger that did not take stupid risks helped me to deliver this without a hitch.
Cowardice, as you call it, is not such when the stakes are high. A measured conservative, documented (and yes boring and unappealing) approach to complex systems is the way to go.
Your cavalier attitude may have real consequences for real people, but hopefully you are just a small time Sys Admin (I took lots of risks when I was administering 5 machines) or an/. teenager.
.... speak English, very often better than USians or even British people (gramatically speaking, the accent is a completely different matter, I know of people from different regions in the US that struggle to understand people from other US places, and don't ask a Londoner with strong Cockney leanings to try to understand a person from Glaswog).
I work with Polish, Chinese, Pakistanis, Indians, Spanish, Japanese, Italians and of course USians and British people, and frankly the language is a non issue in most circumstances.

Looks better according to whom?

You don't like it and from there you generalize to the entire known Universe....

We all know that the best movies evar have all been made the last 10 years.
Kurosawa, Tarkowski, Wells, Hitchcock.
Seven Samurai, Solaris, Citizen Kane, Psycho.

Affordable space exploration is completely untested.

That is false.
This falsehood is propagated mostly by religious minded people.
etc, etc, etc.
Current scientific knowledge is not always right, but since is is open to scrutiny it can be refined and corrected.
Try that with religious dogma.
You guys did not brake up your wacky religions in two (or now who knows how many more sects) out of a minor misunderstanding :-P
