Whatever you want to imply about the Catholic church, they are the biggest, most successful (and original one, since the Pope has a direct mandate from Jesus) of all Christian churches.
Martin Luther and all the funders of many other sects can claim they interpret correctly the word of god, but so could I, you, or anybody else (which is what actually happens), but St Peter is buried in Rome under the church that bears his name, if a big hint about who received the word from the Christian god was ever needed.
As a matter of fact in most of the world, Catholic=Christian, which will infuriate people from other denominations but you can't argue with facts like those.
Not that I care, since I am an atheist, but the contempt with which the Catholic church is treated in the US is frankly laughable.
I expect another professional to interview me, not a circus ringmaster to see how many balls I can keep on the air at the same time.
Another professional in my field will come up with a few questions that will show I am not a poser. A written test asking me fundamentals about my field of expertise is insulting, disrespectful and unnecessary.
I isolate the person responsible for the fixes from the irate customers, there is no reason why they should talk to the fire-fighter.
If the fix is not possible immediately there should be alternatives that allow business to continue, and you should be able to tell business when one problem can't be solved promptly so they can take appropriate action.
A place where angry users are interrupting the person fixing a problem is a place with erroneous management and procedures.
Pressure is a consequence of bad planning, as simple as that.
People have limited amounts of time and resources, if they are under pressure is because somebody is not making the maths properly and hooping for miracles against common sense and the bleeding obvious.
The idiotic macho culture of not trying hard enough has a lot to answer when economic crisis like the one we are experience come along.
Mistakes and mismanagement are the natural environment of people trying too hard.
More often than not those tests are put in place not by the boss but by a helping subordinate or even HR. SInce you donñt know you have got no insight about the situation whatsoever.
A punishing test is that, punishment.
You can filter the bullshiter in 3 minutes if you yourself know your field of expertise. If you need more than that then you are the person found wanting.
The Mexican Constitution, as an example, applies to everybody.
The exceptions (like who can be an elected official) are clearly spelled out.
As for the US Constitution, please point out which bits dont apply to everybody. The parts that may not apply to everybody is when it refers to "the people", otherwise references are to "person", "nobody" or similar which in no way imply citizenship of any kind.
The companies that go bankrupt are normal instrumental only themselves, you can blame Barclays for a last ditch attempt to save Lehmans that did not work.

I have no reason to go through the US for connecting flights anywhere, when given a choice I fly elsewhere for connecting flights (Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and more recently Toronto).
The US is losing money with these draconian laws, rules and regulations.
If nothing else, perhaps some people in "homeland security" (I hope the next US President bins that idiotic name at the very least) should take a hint about this.

If 1% or 2% of people agreed that something is relevant you would roughly know where to find minority opinions, which could built into the system, i.e. show search results which only between 3% and 5% of people find relevant, this way you would find minority opinions about any given topic.
I wish more people would understand that rating does not equal censorship.

In the UK employers have to keep documentation that demonstrates that the job interviews were fair and objective.
This very often means a test is necessary in order to objectively separate the different candidates.
Any serious company should do tests that are basic in scope to ensure only the chancers are skimmed out of the selection process.
But I would agree that any company doing the equivalent of a certification examination should not be taken seriously.

USian (or USan or USean) works perfectly well to describe a citizen or related entity of that country.
USian is a legitimate attempt to refer to US people without using derogatory epithets.
