LCD Price Fixing?

You are all missing the point. This is not about finding a LCD that is the same size as your laptop screen, it's about finding one that has the same size and resolution. The dell inspirion i am writing this on is a 15 inch (viewable) lcd running with a native res. of 1600x1200. A quick scan of compusa.com revealed no lcd screens with those specs.
The closest i found was a 19 inch CTX lcd that runs at 1600x1200 but costs 1059.
The new inspirion 8500 comes with a 15.4 (widescreen) lcd that runs with a native res. of 1920x1200.
At compusa i would have to spend 2000 dollars to get a lcd with the same res.
A small team of 10 or so in conjunction with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory built a thermo-acoustic refridgerator. It didn't work to well but it sure did make a hell of alot of noise.:)
Our most successful aspect of the project was the prototyping of the stack. We discovered that a form of carbon areogel had some very cool properties that made isolating the heat exchanges easy. To test the new stack we created a "hooter-tube" (or holfer tube) which is the opposite of the refridgerator. We created a difference in temeperature to generate sound. We dipped one end of the tube in liqued nitrogen and then heated the other end with a blow dryer. It was a blast to play with becuase it was about the size of a light saber and becuase the open end was the cold end the air around the tip would condense and allow you to "see" the sound wave (well, a quarter of it anyway).

Xbox Live Goes Online

I have been playing unreal chamionship since it was released yesterday. The game is every bit as fun as the pc version (unreal tournament 2003) and include some cool xbox only features: - ability to either talk smack or cordinate an attack via voice - widescreen mode for those with big tvs - 480p mode (HDTV)
As a side note, there are currently (as of 9am PST) ~21000 distinct people who have played at least one match of unreal championship. That works out (so far this weekend) to between 7 and 8 people per minutes purchasing, signing into xbox live and playing unreal championship.
PS. If you think you can take me on, look for 'bunny of death'. WOOT!
1. get a few cups of table salt from mom 2. borrow two propane torches from dad 3. rig the torches to point at the top of the pile of salt 4. cut off the end of an extension cord 5. blast the salt for 5 minutes or so until you have a small clear pool of liqued salt 6. plug extenstion cord in and stick leads into pool of salt 7. start all over again because there is now liqued copper in the salt 8. then remembering from high school chemistry that CL gas is probably not something you want to inhale, set up a fan 9. whoohoo! after two tanks of propane you now have ~2 grams of sodium 10. verify by thowing it in the garage sink 11. explain to dad why the driveway has heat blisters
If you have tried to chat online with the AT&T help desk you've probably noticed the friggen long queue length (something like 900 when i checked a few minutes ago).
So here's how you get to the top of the queue:
- open up the frameset and grab the lower panel src
- paste it into a new browser
- change the QUERY=5 to QUERY=6
- hit go!
it took me to 3rd in the queue this morning.
BTW my service came back online this morning (Dublin, CA)

Sure it's a DIY. I did this in high school:
:)
1. get a few cups of table salt from mom
2. borrow two propane torches from dad
3. rig the torches to point at the top of the pile of salt
4. cut off the end of an extension cord
