To those of you who are lashing out at BNL for doing this, you obviously aren't fans. This 'stunt' is typical BNL like stuff. They aren't doing it to be malicious, they are doing it cuz it's funny. Sure, its free advertising, but who cares?
This MP3 is a great addition to my collection of rare/live songs of theirs I have. I've had this version of it for about a month now, so those of you who say 'it will never work', it's been working for a MONTH. I went looking for the song the day the single was released and found this one, laughed my ass off, and went on my merry way.
So stop your whining. Just because someone did something inventive, and utilized a service used to steal music to decieve a bunch of people doesn't mean they should be attacked.
As I said, if you know BNL, you'll understand that this is just the kinds of things they do. I've been a fan since they used to busk in downtown Toronto, I have seen them in concert 11 times, own all their CDs, including the rerealeased ones, and I assure you, this is their style of humour.

simply because you have the power to go somewhere else. this is a private company, and they can decide if they want to sell to you based on whatever criteria they decide. it's not a GOOD practice, but they can do whatever they want.
So, it's probably legal. But not really moral. But since when is business about morals anyways?
We emerge from our mother's womb an unformatted diskette; our culture formats us.
I work for a high speed wireless ISP in Toronto, Ontario, Canada named Maxlink. We offer a range of services, from 0-4mbps uncommited upto 10mbps commited rates. We also offer IP-VPN as well as other network services which are forthcoming.
This is all done using a combination of Cisco routers/switches for layer 3 stuff, and Newbridge switches for the layer 2 stuff. We use 46020 to mange the layer 2 stuff, and HP openview for the layer 3.
All our customer sites have an antenna on the roof, which is connected to an NIU. The NIU handles all of the RF stuff. The NIU is connected to a Cisco 2924 by an OC-3. A port on the switch is connected to a Cicso 1605r in the users space by a 10mb connection. The users then come off that with their connection to whatever they need.
The transmitting stations (BTSs) are located on the top of medium sized buildings spread throughout our 5 markets (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal). By the time we are done the expansion, we will have >60 BTS. Each of the BTSs can cover an area between 2 and 4.5 km out depending on the weather in the area. Vancouver, for example, has a lot of rain, but it's very small drops, and has a range for 4km. Toronto, however, has very heavy rain drops, and it's range is only 2.5km. (thats rain fade). Because of the frequency we use (28ghz), we are effected a lot more by weather than something like radio/etc.
The BTS's are connected via OC-3 links to our 'core' where the data is sent off to the internet or through the internal network as required. We are a startup, so there is still a lot of development in the network, but we are currently hosting over 150 customers.
The technology is also VERY line of sight - 1 or 2 degrees off is enough to drop the NIU off the network. Because of this, and a few other things, security is garunteed because as soon as line of sight is broken, which is needed to get the signal, the site drops and the bts stops sending anything other than a "ping" to try and connect. There is no way to 'snoop' because you have to have line of sight, as well as know a bunch of information about the network to break the (admitedly light) encryption.
If you are interested in more info, you can email me and I'll see what I can do. If you are interested in our service, visit the web site:):) (we do email, web, dns and voice services also):) (shameless plug).

thankfully, my boss is 2 hours away in another office, so I only have to make it look like I work for 7.5 hours a week. The rest of the week I can sit around and reload/.
I've BEGGED my useless contracting company to help - find a new job etc, but it's just not happening. Time to move along.
I currently work, if I'm lucky, about 10 hours a week. My time sheet says 37.5, but I only actually work about 10 of those hours. Now, don't get me wrong. I WANT to work more. I ASK for work, I beg for it.
The problem where I work is that management doesn't understand the fact that I'm competant at my job - when they give me my work to do, they expect it to take x hours. I tend to do it in x-50 hours, then I sit around and read/. all day long.
I long for a job where I have to work from home... where I actually learn things instead of forgetting.

I work in a large Netware envrionment (>100 servers), and our only gripe with Netware 4.x is the HUGE Vrepair times (18-20 HOURS). We have servers that stay up for months on end, but 90% of the time when we have to reboot, or when one abends, the vrepairs are what kill us.
We've actually moved some stuff off Netware servers to Sun boxes and NT because of lack of the 'vrepair'.
Thankfully, this issue has been addressed with Netware 5's NSS, which has 3-5 second VRepair times, but doesn't support some other things (at this time)
A problem that we've encounted with NW5 running PureIP is that we can't use Rconsole - we have to use JConsole (I think it's called) which is a Java based (read: SLOW!) remote console. It's normally faster to actually GOTO the server room now than loading the Java Console. Well, unless I'm trying to access my servers on the other side of the country. Until this is addressed, there is definatly some hostility towards using PureIP in our workplace as we do a lot of RConsole work. And since PureIP is one of Netware 5's big selling points...
Thats all for my opinion - none of this represents my employers position, of course
