As is standard with Alienware not many will buy it but everyone will want it.
I have to disagree with that... Alienware would not be as successful as they are if few people buy. But then again, I'm guessing all they need to make a profit is one person buying their gear for every 1000 that want it... Since I'm sure most people drool over 'em. Sure it's overpriced but they're filling a niche that no one else seems to touch.
Oh yeah, and the question. This is in fact new, Microsoft announced during Bill Gates Keynote speech.
I for one got rather excited when I heard them mention Alienware partnering with Microsoft to produce Media Center PC's. It's probably the only company I'd buy a Media Center PC from, rather than slapping together my own.
It's hard for me to approximate the actual dB coming from my system since i don't have any tools, and I'm not sure how accurate it would be even if I compared it to the 72dB "normal" tv volume.
The noise isn't quite the "jet engine" noise of a bad cd-rom drive, but more like a vacuum cleaner. It's the High pitch that really gets to people.
After sitting next to my computer for the past couple years, I almost believe that the noise coming from it has seriously hindered my hearing. It's hard for me to hear people whispering to me, and sometimes I can't even hear my profs in lectures.
This is one of the main reasons that I'll look toward a "silent" pc with decent performance, rather than a "Tweaked out" pc that'll make me deaf before I'm 30.
I gotta hand it to the guys at Hardcoreware.net. They went all the way with this, which is something i'd like to do...
I totally agree with this, I think Slashdot is a good example of where I would appreciate the links to stories automatically opening in new windows.... Though, I have no problems holding down shift either...
You talk all high and mighty thinking just cause you pay for your media makes you better than people who download.
Anyone else think CDs, DVDs, Video Tapes, Video Games, Movie Tickets, etc are all way way way over priced?
Shit, For a 16 year old (like me) with a part time job, I have to save every penny, sacrifice lunch once a week, just to save enough money to turn on my computer and surf the net.
Computers are expensive, Consoles are Expensive, Discmen are expensive.
I'll spend my money on the hardware thank you,
I'll download my media..
Where the f@ck do all these people think that the teens around the world are an untapped source for easy money.
Kids are poor man! And unless their spoiled by their parents, there's no way a highschool kid can afford to buy all the music he/she wants to listen to on a part time job flipping burgers.
I talk to lots of friends who would never consider "upgrading" anything in their computer, but the one thing they do know about, or atleast hear about lots is upgrading ram.
It's funny, whenever a friend asks me for upgrading info, the first thing they ask about is, "Should i get 256MB RAM"? The next most common thing is how to install a network card (for Cable or DSL).
Other than those two questions, i hear very little from people who aren't exactly into computers.
Apple, those clever devils, seem to always advertise on all their new systems how easy it is to upgrade ram and insert an Airport card (cause the systems have built in antenna's, wahoo!)

wow, grow up.
Correction, Tomorrow, AMD will ANNOUNCE a chip that runs faster and cheaper at half the clock speed...
Of course, actually seeing in a store will be a different matter.

Well, either that or just buy a Mac.
I wonder if they have guys reading all these posts, and preparing answers as we speak?
Well...
They do have a question mark in the Slashdot Title...
I totally agree with this, I think Slashdot is a good example of where I would appreciate the links to stories automatically opening in new windows....

Blame the Beer, Evolution stops once stupid/inferior people can get drunk and have babies.
Screw that,

Very True.
