Think about this just a little bit. People start putting pieces of machines in to replace failed/worn out or just plain better parts. More and more people more and more powerful machines. At some point in time natural selection takes over. The question is "who" or "what" is going to be selected.
relate something in life, to the computer activity. Example would be the Little Ceasers pizza commercials to the double click of the mouse. Have them say "Pizza Pizza" as they click it twice, you would be amazed how much time this is going to save you.
KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid - Don't overwhelm them. Write them out process sheets. Step 1 - power on computer, step 2 power on monitor, step 3 check that keyboard and mouse are pluged in, step 4 put in logon name, step 5 put in password.
Assume they know nothing..period and document it all to paper and hand it to them. Go though it step by step. Never move out of the basics until they ask to be moved. They are proud and will not tell you they don't understand.
Be very very understanding, and take extra care it will be difficult at times.
I can see it now...BURN the GAMES! Computer gaves are EVIL!!! -- Please, this was a little beat down for being a pissant. So what, but of course the media will spin it out like it was the purest form of proof that computer games are evil. Considering that many people play it those are good ratios. I have never seen anyone throw a punch at a baseball game, or Soccer, or football, or hockey....No one ever brings them up anymore I wonder why?
You could view this like being a network Admin, your considered over payed, and underworked because the only time they ever see you or hear you is when shit is screwed up. Just like computer games, no one see thousands of kids playing it and not taking drugs. Or playing them and learning problem solving skills, computer skills, programing skills, everything but how to interact with other people in real life. Thing is the people in controll of the country right now don't understand computers. Give it some time, and the new computer generation will crop up and understand. Not run around like idoits pointing at anything that will take blame off themselves.
Ok, end rant here....spelling and grammer ignored for speed.
Then again maybe you have to do a ton of typing, so I guess that depends. You could take the mouse and the keyboard out of the question. Plus reduce your footprint.
Agreed, it is pretty close. Not quite what an mp3 is I think. Once they get a movie down to the point where you can watch it streaming on a cable modem without a skip I think it will be there.
If movies had made it this far I would have a storehouse of them on a disk. They are still too big to waste my time on. Just me, I am sure others are downloading them as we speak.
But thanks for reminding me they are getting very close.
This would be interesting if it led to say something to the nature of playing for money vs. each other. Then letting the arcade take a 10% off the top of everything. Just a couple this would apply to would be any Player vs. Player:
Street Fighter
Mortal Kombat
Soul Calibur
add fighting game here
Racing Games
PinBall....oh please! Top score takes the cash
You think the only thing they are going to do is bank on subscriber base? Are we all so short sighted that we can't see that they are going to use this to push advertisments on us while we use it? That is more money! 50 million eyes commands a large sum of greenbacks. I think we are all being a little short sighted about what napster is about to do. They will have a virtual strangle hold on mp3/aac propogation on the net, at least legal.
They will attack those that are not napster, and the music company will do so as well. With that kind of subscriber base they are laying the foundation for music videos, movies, etc...Who do you think the movie industry will go to when compression gets good enough to push it over broadband? I would think they would goto napster, the guys that have the 50 million base allready in their backpocket.
If they get this they will become the next AOL of the internet, pushing it with the newest killer app to hit the market and sucking up the others as they go. This is only the start if they side this over on the music community.
Listen to your music, but what them become and empire.
This will happen of course, but it will be the day that battery life is next to endless or the low power is dirived from a passive source so the the longevity of the media is like a book. Also there will need to be non-backlit screens, surfaces that mimic paper to the point that it is no longer adventageous to store books in the current format. Books are just a median, like anything else. Right now books are perfect. They are to cheap to product, have a long life, and don't need power.
Once you can stick it on a shelf without a external powersupply and come back and read in 10 years later, that is when book will vanish.
Thanks for the info, most interesting as I have little or know knowledge of the shoe. I knew it would not have anything the nature of the hubble, and granted thinking about it now it would be pretty boring looking at a couple of dots that spin by over now and then. Interesting idea anyway. Thanks.

Well it seems that this thing(Eros) is spinning at a constant rate right? Well why not just roll the damn shoe over and point the lens out to space. I am assuming the the solar pannels are functional so it has power. Now just leech a ride and take some pictures with that little bugger for the next couple years. Granted it would be like droping a sub to the bottom of the ocean and something interesting just happends to swim by but hell why not. You could have yourself a orbit cycle of a rock the size of Manhattan, rotation for different views, and maybe even a birds Eye view of something interesting down the road.

Just wondering but did you see the link under the artical about Mac going to the two button mouse. I have no idea if they posted something about this here, but that at least is somewhat interesting.

Slow the double click time as much as possible.

This would get me into the arcade again.
