That may be true but you're still loading the content that you're not showing. AdBlock Plus in FF lets you block entire iFrames which means the iFrame content won't even load (as I understand it).
OK, I've been a programmer for some time now, and most of that time I've heard of IPv6, and seen some interfaces to configuring it (OS X), even if it's not "on" per se... but WHAT the heck problem was it supposed to originally solve, again? And perhaps because it's not solving any pressing problems (from what I can tell), implementations of it are not getting the attention they dubiously deserve? Is NAT not going to keep us from eventually running out of IPv4 addresses, or some other workaround that sort of namespaces different subnets of the Internet?
Will it really be important some day for every physical item in my possession to have a unique address and an RFID tag?
Do sysadmins at big corporations really WANT every one of their machines to have an address that is uniquely addressable from anywhere on the Internet? Will this help to solve issues such as VPN'ing behind a firewall, etc.?
I really wish someone would port it to the Symbian 60 OS, so I can use it on my phone (my Nokia has supplanted the Palms I used to own and sold off to friends). Excellent timekiller!
I know that every non-gamer scratches their head at this and declares "dual boot is dead" but if you are any sort of gamer at all, you are well aware of the wonderful 3d support Apple has provided in boot camp;)
and if you aren't a gamer, sorry to hear. it's pretty damn fun out on the internets these days, now on macs more than ever
One qualm I have with everyone's thoughts about how the universe "began" is that any concept of "beginning" or "end" MUST imply time's existence and if you are also talking about the beginning of time progression in the context of the Universe's "beginning" then technically there might NOT have been a "beginning" per se simply because there was no timeframe to put a "beginning" in... or?
dude, i've coded in a lot of languages and ruby is the coolest so far, by far.
yeah i write rails apps but I also use ruby for admin type stuff and it's great.
the test suite stuff alone is a HUGE sell. i don't give a fuck how fast it is, the CPU bandwidth is hardly ever the bottleneck. I'm faster at coding and fixing, that's for sure.
I know your joke had a grain of truth;) I'm not the OP but I'm a Mac Gamer(TM). There are a few of us left who have refused to cave in to buying a windows machine, yet enjoy playing games. At this point it probably becomes a religious defiance, but anyway;) I play Call of Duty 2 (yes... just came out), Zero Hour, WoW, Quake 4, and the Desert Combat Final mod for BF1942. I've bemoaned the lack of games like FarCry and HL2 but the games that do exist on macs already take up enough of my time. I suppose when I switch to an intel-powered mac later this year sometime that dual-booting for games will come in handy.
Thanks for the additional info, I feel like I have a clue about what the issues involve now! The instability issues remind me of chaos theory (i read james gleick's book once). If you are involved with that process, best of luck...
Elbowing doesn't carry well over the Internet, and I keep forgetting that. People always seem to interpret things in the more hostile way, perhaps because people are critical of themselves (this would include me). If you can imagine me being a nice jovial fellow (which I am told I am, take my word for it for now), elbowing you in the ribs with a smirk and a subtle change of voice (think: car salesman) as I say "hey, smart guy! please break it down for me", perhaps you would have received the message better;) as that's how I pictured it in my head.
I appreciate your thoughtful (earlier) reply and I did go ahead and follow the links, but as you mentioned, it gets a little complicated for the "outside" layperson (even after having taken some college physics). I thank you again for your information and I apologize for any misunderstanding- don't be so hard on yourself;)

17.5%? rotfl. Violated Anally Tax? I had no idea it was even that high. They charge that much extra for new cars too?
The only thing stupider than that are the handful of states over here that make you pay annual property tax on your CAR. Because, you know, a car is just a special kind of property except without square footage, or something. I did not even know this phenomenon existed before I moved to Boston.
Well, as long as you are so amused... Care to link me to any information regarding the breakeven point and why it can only be surpassed for a short period of time? I can't seem to google my way to that info. I tried this game. Once upon a time.
It took so long to get ready in the morning (shower, piss, etc) that I'd routinely miss my ride to work and then lose my job. And then, when I wanted my character to learn, I'd have him read. And I'd sit there... watching him... reading. Then I stepped out of the matrix and said, why am I watching an avatar read when I could read actual stuff myself?? And so I did...

I have heard this "windows is more configurable than OS X" mantra far too many times and I think it is missing any merit.
Try this with a Windows app: Right click on the executable, Show Package Contents, navigate to the interface.nib file, open it in Project Builder, modify it, save it, and relaunch the application with your hacked interface.
If you don't like how OS X looks, there are plenty of ways to change it. But people who don't even give Macs a chance from the get-go don't lookveryhard.
You miss your Internet Exploiter hacks and think Safari must be accepted as-is? Again, you aren't looking very hard.
At least the OS X network preferences/settings are all in one place, as opposed to Windows.
Even the OS X Terminal is way more powerful than Windows' built-in command line! (MS Command Shell notwithstanding, since it's a beta). The irony must be lost on some.
Windows is not lookin' so much more "configurable" now, is it?;) I admit it's neat that you can interact with any windows app or dll via COM (as long as it's registered correctly! yay registry! not!)- Applescript serves that purpose on Macs but it's a little different.
...doin his own thang!
(my USAF roommate used to tease me with this old sesame street lyric, as I was quite the nonconformist...)

Isn't double the DVI bandwidth... "dual-link DVI"?
(I know because I own one of those 30" Apple flatscreens which requires it.)

Where the hell is the nanotech going to procure the energy and materials to duplicate itself that fast? THAT will definitely limit it.
... it will ONLY be on VERY limited configurations (for support and driver reasons).
;)
In the meantime you can always try running a hacked OS X in a virtualized environment in fullscreen
