    I was under the impression that Mars's has a very weak magnetic field now. One theory is that the solar winds "blew away" most of the atmospheare which it turn cause the surface to lose heat and freeze up trundra style.

    Those days are gone for the most part. Purchase the hardware, get the OS with no users limit. The BIG bucks are in the support contracts. $$

    And off on another tangent from upper thread. Last time I checked, I could do a lot more with one Good UNIX system, I would still need a whole rack of Windows servers to provide the same services with the same up time.

    One of the things that the FED should do .. it keep the population safe.

    Natural Disasters all but 3 of which are Weather based have kill more people world wide then any other events.

    So I would submit that providing the population of the US with Free Weather servies and Information is a MANDATE.

    Why dont you set your tablespaces to backmode and do a hotbackup. You dont need to take it down.... need some Arch logs tho. Then there is always RMAN.....

    Or write a snapshot to a 3rd mirrror.

    Sounds to me like MSFT just found out about tarballing to an NFS mount point.

    Sure .... but show me another X86 quad system that can support 2 DC memory controller. Right now.. there is nothing to compare with Quad Opti's and the way their HTT scale. Now just wait for the Bridge chip to come out, I would love to see 8way and 16way systems. From what I read about the bench mark war between HP and IBM, the record holding Itantic system cost about 125,000 more then the Opteron system. Right now the Opti's only direct competor are the Itanium chips, But with Opti you can still run 32bit code at full speed.

    If you listen you can almost hear Intel pooping in their pants.

    They are pleanty of ways to get power..

    We will use all the oil until its gone, that is just human nature. Then we will make the change and not until.

    Oh and as I said before just fix the F@#King traffic problems and we would save plenty of gas. Build some more roads, work from home, stagger office hours etc. If you cut 5 minutes off everyones drive time ... well you get the picture.

    Or maybe pick up a cheap DLT drive on ebay.

    I have personaly thrown DLT tapes across a datacenter, dropped them from high tape rails and kicked them across the drop floor. But they still work just fine. They are harty little buggers I am convencedd the only way to beak them is with a hammer or inceneration.

    What about an Xbox. With DRM they are trying to lock the OS to the hardware. So what way is it? How about systems running as Demos in Store ? They have no owners yet, I see them booted into windows,

    If the OS was bought with the computer and not alacart. It should be sellable with the comptuer.

    This whole thing is a scam ... Try to get your money back for the EULA. MSFT will tell you to talk to your OEM.... Oh so they are the ones that own it? WTF... If they dont stick to the ELUA why should you.

    It is not illegal to share your "backup" mp3's. If they are yours. The person dowloading it the one who is breaking copyright, now it could depend on where you share your "backups". If there are warnings about downloading copyrighted material where your files are. I really don't see how they could blame you. After all you might need access to your files when you are away.

    The whole thing is just silly. If they dont want people to have the music then dont put it out.
