you seam to be missing one huge giant manificant factor:
Wheres this prompt going to go?
On the console?
after I login?
in an X-Session?
if I wanted to use this harddrive, I would mount it
just like if I want to use my cdrom
I will mount it
or I will set it to automaticaly mount at boot time
just like my harddrives, theres thousands of fancy redhat programs for adding your harddrives to auto mount, and theres billions of ways to make a shell script mount your drives.
What you keep missing is this "automation" thing.
I don't run redhat.
"Booting kernel..."

"initiating network services"

"Would you like to mount your USB harddrives? (Y/N) "
"OH SHIT I FORGOT I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE PROMPT OR ELSE MY COMPUTER WON'T BOOT"
Some people say we live in the 3rd demension, some people say we live in the 3rd and a half demension.
Since time is believed to be the 4th demension, and we can only travel forward in time (and not back), we can safely say we live in the demension: 3.5.
Now if you can throw an object behind another object, and once again, throw that object infront of the previous said object, it has a forward/back motion it can achive.
So this, "z-order", along with "x-alignment" and "z-alignment" is relitivly 3d alignment. We just see it from a front perspective.
Text is either 3d or 2d.
First of all its a fricken monitor.
Second of all, if you don't set the depth of the text its just as 2d as anything else on your normal keen 2d wm screen.
I really hope your not a programmer, because you lack innovation.
There are a billion ways to run a movie layer over an existing DVD layer.
You foo.
Source code or not.
1:) Hardware overlays
2:) software Overlays
3:) play second movie below, around, besides, or generaly behind the movie using API callbacks (windows) or modifyed window managers (X, everythingelse)
The ATI Mach 64's were good cards
the ATi Rage 128's were amazing cards
The ATi Radeon are amazing cards
Thats some damn good consistency if you ask me.
umm
I play quake 3 in linux, with the XFree86 server provided by SuSE and GL extentions in the open source pool.
I guess I'm not affected.
Runs great, ATI aiw 16meg agp 2x, amd k6-2 350
exactly
kinda like Grand Theft Auto 2, if you play without the framerate limiter, everythings so fast, with the limiter, everythings the same pace (unless you blow up a screen full of cars).
So in general there would be a steady FPS.
Now if you over clocked it, in theroy you could get 180FPS, but in Grand Theft Auto 2 even when you blew up that screen full of cars (mm..carnage), and the screen would not slow down.
Even nintendo, when to many fish's were on the screen on mario you would see slowdown.
I guess where I'm going at is instead of rendering those extra frames (we only want 80, not 180, thats 100 extra frames, 120%) they would strickly render only 80 frames, and save valued GP time, and CPU time.
This might actually be more a driver issue rather than Game programmer.
kiconedit
konqueror does this, however I am unsure if it cashays the icon (like it probably does).
Let's get him!!!!
oo..thinking sexy thoughts
change your
shell=explorer.exe
to
shell=konqueor.exe

as well for a few others I know.
Your not alone, neo.

I like where this "automount without prompting" is going.

Who wants to be a french citizen raise there hand, then wait for a published expolit on their technology.

cause nvidias been around for year after year after year, making 3d video cards
must be on the 10th year by now
nope
wasn't
Practical as in "not on the drawing board".
They can make mice breath underwater, they can make a dog's head twitch hours/days after it has deceased.
We can't get 200% out of fusion yet.
We can't goto the moon commercialy and seamlessly as going to another country.

Thats just my 1 cent.
that's strangly odd
I leave konq running for days, weeks
*even mozilla*
and never get serious memory usage
I saw this last night on @Discovery.ca, and it reminded me when I saw this on some TV show, this must of been my grade 6 (7 years ago).
I'm glad to see they finally have this in practical use.
