  1. about time.... on NASA Eyes Shuttle Replacements · · Score: 0

about time.... i mean since the end of the cold war we really havent had any good push to do things in space.... at least now we can do silly, safe experiments at 1/10th the cost...

While I 100% support the space program and I totally believe we should be spending more money on NASA, I've gotta point out that you must realize that the hollywood money is private money. If individual people want to be dumb and make dumb movies, then that is their perrogative. NASA is under a great deal of pressure to get everything right the first time, and NOT create bombs, simply because it is everyones/b? money!

  4. really, on Wireless Providers to Pay Universal Service Fees? · · Score: 0

wireless internet access should not qualify as on this tax. the tax is simply designed by some over-concerned liberal who wanted to make sure everyone had plain old telephone service. while a telephone could be construed as a nessecity in this day and age, a wireless internet connection cannot (even tho i am sure 90% of /.ers cant live without their net connection.

  6. The advantage to the consumers.... on EchoStar Asks Supreme Court to Let Unlock Local Channels · · Score: 0

...is not to watch LA news in NYC or vice versa, but to broaden the availability of local channels throughout the nation. We own a beach house on the outer banks of north carolina, and the cable system sucks and is very expensive. We would move to the satellite in an instant if we could get local channels. Unfortunatly we cannot pick them up off the air easily enough, nor do we live near enough to Raleigh/Duram to get their satellite local broadcasts. It would be great if we could pick up the local channels from washington DC, or from any nearbye city. Unfortunatly this law prevents us from doing that. So, we are stuck with crappy, expensive cable.

  7. This disgusts me on U.S. Works Up Plans for Using Nuclear Arms · · Score: -1, Troll

Doing a quick read through of the comments at +4 and above I have found a shocking trend. Every single comment went something to the effect of "We should give everyone else nuclear weapons because it isnt fair" or "Threatening to use nukes upset the balance of power... yada yada yada" Nuclear weapons are a detterent! The voters of the cold war generation would crucify a president who used nuclear weapons randomly, but the very statement that we will respond with nuclear weapons in X situation is good enough to keep a lot of people from creating X situation. During the cold war, right after WW2,when a US government official was outlining the countries that we would protect from the communist threat, he accidently left out South Korea.. Whatdya know! The north invaded the south. What I am basically saying is that first USEING nuclear weapons is a VERY VERY bad thing, however threating to use nuclear weapons is a very good thing, because first, it is a major major detterent, second even if X situation happens, then the US is not required to retailiate. How can this be a bad thing?!??!

of course the real question is will people be actually able to play without anything more than the initial investment. I would definatly play if I could get by with ~$20 at the start and keep going from there.

Are they going to charge for the game itself?
