If I run a search engine and Ford Motor Compnay pays me $x dollars a year to make it the only thing that shows up in a search of "ford", "mustang", "f-150", etc... who cares...
It's my business, my company, my website, my search engine.... Can't I do whatever the hell I want??...
Yeah... But, if I were a nice and reasonable business man I would add a notice to my site that said I take money for preffered search engine results... (But, it'd be in really small print somewhere...:-) )

No.. I am currently enrolled in college and have now completed Calc II... Never not once... not even in homework did I use a calculator... I didn't even bring one to college b/c they told us that for Calc you won't need it (bull I thought).... But, it can be done and actually I found it a great help... B/c you aren't relying on the Calc you really are forced to understand the concepts that you are learning... Yeah.. I know doing definite integrals is a bitch, but ya gotta do it... The difference b/twn the courses that are taught w/ and w/out calculators is how they are structured.... No of course I'm going to do recursive equations w/ 200 interations... but, if you only do 2 interations aren't you learning the exact same thing...

The future of DSL providers for end-users is going the same way as the Bell's... (obviously)
Any of these small DSL providers are getting their backbones from the Big companies that either
a) Supply the large DSL companies as well
b) Will offer their own DSL service in the future
So essentially once all of these companies reach a point where their debt load (Covad = $1.3billion in debt) is too much to deal with and will sell to a larger company... It's the same pattern over and over again... Eventually it will be to the point where the bells are currently at... Government forced deregulation, which in the end never works out in the way that it was supposed to and the big bell's will simply repurchase all of the little spawned companies and the cycle begins again....

Why would the banning of TLD make that much of difference aside from the ease of use for the web. When you goto whitehouse.com you obviously know that it is not the offical site for the White House. Ease of use is the only logical reason for limiting of use of TLD's. With the downturn of the current.com enconomy, actual hit's(pagecounts, banner ads) b/c of the misuse of TLD's (i.e. mispelling of popular domains) is becoming less of a means of gaining fincially by page views. Aside from the obvious copyright problems with registering TLD's of trademarked names their shouldn't be any other limits of the possibilities of TLD's.

I will be the first to say it.... I love technology... But, reading this makes me wonder what is enough...
Alas, voice activated and personalized networks are going to aid in everyday life (especially with those physcially handicapped) but, it removes the most deveolped and complex form of communication... Human Interaction..
This is becoming less and less a factor in the average humans life.. With business going paperless and friends going wireless when does someone really have to talk to someone... If you telecomute and email your family, do you really have to talk to anyone, besides maybe your coffee maker when you get up in the morning..
I don't want to be a anti-technology advocate but, mearly express an idea that we are excluding the most needed facet of human life... Interaction...

Online investing accounts for a very small amount of total money invested in all stocks. Most money comes from corprate investing houses (Merril Lynch, Payne Webber, etc...).. The only real effect online investers have is attitude of the market. Their descions impact others in feeling only not the direct price of the stock.

One of the more intresting/frustrating parts of games without cheats is the lack of continually enjoyable game play.. A good example is Worms 2... Even though the game is enjoyable and addictive the lack of weapons (i.e. weapons only available with cheats) is somewhat disagreeable. The only way to obtain the cheats is through beating the actual 1 player game, which is extremly hard.... A counter example would be Civilization 2... Even though the cheats are readily available for use (on the game menu itself) it is not that enjoyable to use b/c it simple defeats the entire purpose of the game, regardless of the humor of multiple nuclear missles being launched into third world countries like Canada..... A good programing creed would be simply to use cheats as a method of continuing game play and allowing more intresting interaction... Not simple for functional purposes but to expand the gaming experience itself...

It's not like all of these MP3's simply appeared when Napster came about... They had been in existence for years before Napster, just being traded on less popular services....
If Napster goes subscription I'm certainly not going to use it... I'll simply go and put a Leech FSERVE up on an IRC network and go search for what I want on my own... Yes there is not the wide range of music that is available by searching in the "Napster" fashion but, the music is still there regardless...

The closest solar system to us that would be able to support life (i.e. large enough to provide an perfect distance from the sun to support the right temperatures) is about approx. 1.5 million light years away (light takes 1.5 million years to reach this galaxy)... So assuming that they had a telescope that could see the surface of our planet what would they see??

Because the light from the earth when dinosaurs roamed the earth would just be reaching their solar system now.... So why would they bother coming to a planet to see large animals...
