It really isn't. If you have a vagina, you are a woman and get to file lawsuits under Title IX that there aren't enough sports teams for you. If you have a penis, you are a man, and don't get to file the lawsuit. You only want it to be complicated so that there can be more victim groups in you intersectional politics.
Take the sport of wrestling. Recently, a state champion for the girls division in Texas was a boy. Some girls would not even wrestle him, because they worried about getting hurt. I coached for a while, and I can tell you that the girls simply can not compete. The best girls will have excellent skills and conditioning, but no where near enough strength. There is already a JV/Varsity division. Should the girls be relegated to the JV team....forever?
You're saying we should change the rules to allow women to use mens bathrooms, because that makes them more "comfortable". But that makes the VAST majority of the men "uncomfortable". Either way, someone is going to be discomforted. Why should it be the vast majority?
Whats much more of a problem is platforms like facebook, skype and whatsapp etc, which force you to be on their platforms if you need to communicate with your friends who also use the same platforms. Splitting these companies up wouldn't do much good, unless you also create and enforce some kind of open interoperable standards allowing users on different platforms to still communicate with other and allowing third parties to create their own compatible alternatives.
I just switched to diapora, which is built off of decentralized nodes. There is no central "master" to control what you see and hear.
Why would they use solar cells? Photovoltaics are not the cheapest way to get energy from the sun on an industrial scale. Concentrated solar into molten salt storage would be the only sane way to build a generation plant this large.
Obviously, this dude has never lived in a poor neighborhood and tried to visit the grocery store on the day when Food Stamps go out. Let's just say that a month's food budget can buy the finest of meats.
What am I missing here, how is this not just socialism (or communism) being called something else?
This is not communism, because it leaves out "from each according to his abilities". The UBI says, "You get according to your needs, but you don't even have to kick back a little effort in return."
Have you ever had a civics class? If so, you should ask for a refund. How exactly does the President give himself a tax cut, when it is the House of Representatives that is responsible for writing spending legislation?
And they do a crap job of that. Without previews, the only way to know what a show will be like is to check it out. Get 5 minutes in, see that it is crap because the stand up comedian thinks we should all laugh at "Trump Stoopid", and bail on it. Now it counts as "viewed" and they ask if you want to see more like it.
The premise is that the Wakandans were wrong in their behavior. The conclusion of the movie flatly states as much.
If it is social commentary, the theme of the movie seemed to be that black people are responsible for improving lives of black people. I found it to be a very right leaning narrative.
Capitalism is a whole economic system that benefits all of its participants. The middle class or working class may not "own the means of production", but that doesn't mean they're not part of the Capitalist system.
Oh, but contraire mon frere. The middle class very much owns the means of production. They ARE the means of production. One of my first employers told me that my concern was to sell my skills to the highest bidder. This is what separates the capitalist system from others, and the part that the left very much was not a reality. WE ARE NOT VICTIMS. The middle class citizen in a capitalist society has agency. He can say, "Screw it all" and become a hermit if he so chooses. She can save her money and become one of the 1% if she so chooses. In all cases, what they choose to work for is very much a barter between them and the employer over what the middle class person owns...theirself.
I didn't buy and store books. I borrowed them from a library. Why would I want to maintain my own library?
I didn't buy and store cassets. I listened to the radio. Why would I want to curate and constantly switch out tapes when someone else would do the selection for me to keep it fresh?
I didn't buy and store DVDs. I'd go to the movies, rent them from a store, or wait for them to be broadcast. I very seldom watch a movie more than once. Why would I want to keep stacks of plastic around that I never use?
In short, the author needs to get a life and maybe finding a hobby. If you're life revolves around hoarding and curating "media", you're a loser.
Also, this is a tariff...a 'tax' by any other name.
Until we decided that we should bleed our economy to help Europe in their wars, tariffs were the way the federal government was financed. We may be paying higher prices for goods, but at least it is going to reduce our deficits.
Re: Deficits actually reducing...yeah, I've been sniffing unicorn farts. But, one can hope, can't he?
I worked as a contractor in that Louisville plant right before the sale. I watched building 6 burn down.
Their quality was crap...plain and simple, and it was neither the fault of the engineers or the factory workers. The engineers would design a product and put it through a year of testing. At the end of the process, accountants would shop the world and find the cheapest makers for each of the components. A 10 cent bearing was replaced by a 3 cent bearing. The only people receiving notoriety were the accountants who got their pictures on wall plaques.

From the standpoint that they are all terms for subjective feelings that cannot be objectively verified, they are all exactly the same.
No one is trying to erase you. That is stupid. You are there. An actual person.
Yes, I've known several trans people. Each was an overly dramatic attention whore.
I would say that it is sex that determines which bathroom you use.

Why does the government need to assign/recognize gender now? Its not like anyone has more/less rights due to their gender.
Yes, I would also like to get rid of the whole Title IX and equal rights nonsense.
Because of Title IX. You know the law that says that men and women have to be treated equally.
Why do people worry so much about bathrooms? I'm convinced that is a leftist talking point used to dismiss the issue.
What about boys taking over girls sports? RE: The state champion wrestler in Texas, or the state champion sprinters in Conneticut.
What about signing up for selective service? Claim to be a man all you want, but GI Jane was a silly movie.
Will a woman claiming to be a man be able to sue for sexual harassment if she overhears men joking in the men's locker room?
You're saying we should change the rules to allow women to use mens bathrooms, because that makes them more "comfortable". But that makes the VAST majority of the men "uncomfortable". Either way, someone is going to be discomforted. Why should it be the vast majority?
I just last night shut down my Facebook account and opened one on diaspora.org

It may not be enforceable, but just consider the optics. Democrats get to go around and say how much they care.

All he has done is destroy jobs, and yet we have record unemployment? Hmmm?

With horror, I watched the process happen.
