There is no need for stereotypes, racial, or gay related slurs about Apple users, and iPhone consumers in particular on Slashdot. The type of people that are here already know.
Statistics are easily skewed when the demographics aren't considered. Verizon is equally as bad, but the whiny cry baby iPhone types just are not there to bitch. I'll bet that if you asked Starbucks and included cell phone type as a criteria, the iPhone users would be the ones ordering the "extra skinny, double foo foo, with non fat something" and will send back 2 or 3 making everyone else wait just because.
I am wondering if last night's Comcast outage was because the Fed's were installing Echelon 2.0. This time it is to use our tax dollars to find civil infringement of movies and music.
After all, it's not welfare when wasteful government spending benefits billionaires, is it?
Privatize the profits and publicize the costs! Isn't the the American motto?
I am from Joliet, Illinois. So yes, I am in the "Third World".
Some times herd mentality just makes people run to Android or iOS like sheep to the slaughter.
Symbian^3 on the N8 is totally awesome, and incredibly fast, and totally stable. It does a great job of managing internet connections. has wonderful power management, and, since Comcast is down right now, allows me to tether via HSPA modem from my MacbookPro to Slashdot to write this.
I loved Symbian on my N95, I hated it on the N97, I am now back in love with Symbian^3 on the N8. I am willing to say this is the best cell phone I have ever had bar none. I have an N900, but don't consider it a cell phone. The N900 is a linux tablet with a phone app.
Back to cell phones. The US press seems to forget Symbian exists, is rock solid stable, ans is very clean and fast. Symbian was fast on a 60 mhz processor, and literally screams on the N8. For once I would like to see a review written by some one that is used to Symbian instead of an iPhone user complaining how it is different than his beloved Apple product, or some such similar from and Android Fanboi.
Nokia has made some very bad management decisions in the last few years, but their engineer elves have been busy. The N8 really is the best cell phone, both hardware and software that Nokia has ever produced and deserves a close look.
I am glad I didn't listen to "Symbian is dead" and bought an N8.
That's all this is. The electric company powers that be guessed no one would buy electric cars, so why spend the money to upgrade infrastructure. Oops. Time to go explain to the shareholders that you have to spend of money instead of handing out dividends.
The shareholders and the board can fix this by firing the managers, and the next bunch won't make the same mistake.
The greedy airlines do not want the traveling public switching to Amtrak or the bus. The reason to grope/scan train passengers is purely in the comercial interest of the airlines.
With all of the new surveillance requirements of our friendly government and the alphabet soup laws and treaties pushed on us by the **AA, we are not far behind China in this.
Utter crap. The greedy airline industry will cut any corner to male more profit. Offshore critical maintenance, buy cheap planes they don't care. Cheap rules, and the airline industry is especially greedy.
Remember, the flying public are treated like shit because they are consumers to be culled, not customers to be sold.
The shuttle was an misconceived expensive piece of junk designed to make the Russians go broke copying it. (Read Buran). We should have never given up on the Saturn V as out heavy lift platform.
Why not just move the remaining Shuttles to museums like the Smithonian and Wright/Pat and display them as the costly mistakes they are.
We also could build a modern Saturn V with better metallurgy, and computers very easily. I think the reason we don't is that the design is public domain and the usual contractors can't charge 10 times what it is worth.
People that live near high tension towers have put up coils to suck up stray power for years. The power companies frown on this, but my feeling is that it makes up for shortening peoples lives because of living next to these things.
I am NOT one of the anti vaccine people. I think all kids need to be vaccinated. Those that trust to herd immunity are leaches, and taking a great risk.
I also think it is pure cold blooded greed to use the preservatives could very well cause this because the safer ones are more expensive.
"How did this happen when all the scientific data points otherwise?" The "scientific" data provided by the pharmaceutical industry? Is that like the "scientific" data the tobacco industry used to provide showing cigarettes are harmless?
I think what this is really about is the greed of big pharma using a "patented" preservative in vaccines that they know is dangerous, but cheaper than one that is safe. It is about the arrogance of being protected from litigation like this from laws bought and paid for, because again it is cheaper than using a safe more expensive alternative for a preservative.
It is about cold blooded statistics that show it is still more profitable to do all these things than spend another penny per shot to avoid them.
Don't blame the lawyers, blame the greed of big pharma CEO's.
Nokia has removed all reference (except a few straggling pages) for the N900 from http://www.nokiausa.com/ already. The N900 is no longer for sale from Nokia USA.
This is sad, and I am sure you will be seeing Windows Mobile on Nokia phones in the future. You don't just leave Microsoft any more than you leave the Mafia.

It's what iPhone users are like!
iPhone 4 users are even worse!

I love it.
Then I bought an N8. I love it.
I wish Slashdot had a [like] button, or I had mod points!
Wonderful explanation of the US economy. I wish I could hear this on CNN.

Problem solved!
The end is near.
The greedy airlines do not want the traveling public switching to Amtrak or the bus. The reason to grope/scan train passengers is purely in the comercial interest of the airlines.
And to think only 45 years ago, all we could manage was 135 tons to low earth orbit on the Saturn V.
Wow, what progress.
Nokia's N series cell phones do not need a cell signal to use the GPS.
With all of the new surveillance requirements of our friendly government and the alphabet soup laws and treaties pushed on us by the **AA, we are not far behind China in this.
There are lots of choices. Just avoid using Seimens controllers. Problem solved!

Alert, Nunavut Canada is the worlds northernmost town. By a long way. Alert is 82 degrees North.

The town in the article is far South of Alert.
The Space Shuttle has capacity of 24,000 LBS to LEO. The Saturn V had a capacity of 260,000 LBS to LEO.
Enough said?

So there!
So what? Isn't this why American companies make their products there? So you can poison your workers and not have to pay squat?
People that live near high tension towers have put up coils to suck up stray power for years. The power companies frown on this, but my feeling is that it makes up for shortening peoples lives because of living next to these things.

Think about how "Net Neutrality" will affect this.
Version: I don't care if a life is on the line, they didn't pay extra. throttle 'em.
Toast!
