Of course Citrix did receive about $250,000,000 from Microsoft with the full knowledge that Citrix would only be left with a nitch market for Windows clients that run on Mac and Unix.

Congratulations csash on your awesome scientific skills and especially your ability to remain so down to earth even with your great knowledge base. In the real world, a lot more people have 'software developer', 'software engineer', or 'programmer' on their business card than 'computer scientist'. When you've worked a little longer in the real world why don't you come back and tell us what percentage of time you spend programming versus inventing.

That is a completely different illusion.

The liquid does not appear to move up into the faucet like the water of this waterfall does. It is simply pumped up a vertical tube and spills over the top of the tube thus hiding the tube from view.

The terms contractor and consultant are not used interchangably in the US. Contractor and temp can be similar. A consultant is usually someone with a high skill-level or expertise. A contractor is usually no different than a regular employee--just hired to pick up the slack and fill in some staffing holes on a temporary basis.

Of course, that doesn't prevent lots of contractors from thinking of themselves as consultants. :)

Microsoft's very own SDK contains the Berkeley copyright notice in the following files: WINSOCK.H, WINSOCK2.H, and WS2API.H. Probably done for ease of porting. So why would MS care about the binary only stack if the header files that developers use mention Berkeley?

Verizon DSL 768/384 is $30 for first 3 months here and $50 thereafter. Too much for me. I would love the always-on aspect, but don't really need the speed. If they offered 128/64 for $30 I would jump on it! Then I would install an old laptop in the kitchen (for recipes, maps, phone book) and one in the living room (for tv listings and random surfing).

Simply create a VBScript Windows Scripting Host application called WordFrontLine.VBS. Change file associations for DOC files from WinWord.EXE to WordFrontLine.VBS. The VBS script simply opens the DOC file, scans for the INCLUDETEXT function and prompts the user with a warning showing the filename that is to be included. If the user accepts this, the script simply launches WinWord.EXE as normal.
