Ariane 5??
It'll probably boost the observatory to an even distribution of small fragments over a 400 mile radius around the launch point on the Earth's surface.
But, it'll be very pretty.
Like other space telescope launch vehicles themselves become an even distribution of small fragments all over Texas?
True.. Big corporate lans are especially vulnerable to this kind of worm/virus. Especially if they put all their faith in the firewall as so often happens, and forget about the consultant that plugs his laptop into the phoneline at home.

So what happens? Child pr0n is put on your machine by a trojan, without your knowledge. Once a week you scan for trojans, and clean them. Now explain to the friendly judge/jury how the stuff entered your browsers cache...
And in the Netherlands. But since less and less hardware is supported by UnixWare, companies are moving to Linux, HP-(s)UX, Solaris, and what not. SCO's dead.
There is this Hungarian company that wants to enter but was rejected. Not very surprising since they intend to use "a zero point field energy/superconductor-based propulsion system"... They are European but I bet they were not in your 5 or 6:)
Seriously, though, once one group has succeeded, what is the immediate benefit to other groups who may succeed afterwards? No $$ usually leads to seriously reduced efforts.
The X Prize Foundation has thought of that. The are working to set up a "racing" event for passenger-carrying spaceships, with contenders trying to win categories like fastest turnaround time, highest altitude, and numbers of passengers. They are hoping to get big sponsors that are now active in Formula 1, Indycars, and such.
Yeah.. being friendly with the sysadmin is worth a lot. He might even grep -v the webproxy logs for you or set you up for the alternet unlogged proxy:)
Nice to see this story now, because today we started looking into replacing UnixWare with Linux, on the main systems of one of our biggest clients. Support for Unixware by hardware vendors is getting less and less...
10 G's isn't to bad. Jet fighter pilots can pull 4-5 G's momentarily before blacking out.
The F-16 is limited to 9G. It takes a G-suit, and special muscle and breathing techniques to sustain it for a while, but they sustain it longer than just a moment (I used to be in the airforce and saw HUD camera footage from dogfight training on a regular basis, during debriefings). I think that Israel had their F-16's set to pull a maximum of 10G's, IIRC.
Saying "give me X feature" rarely results in it happening.
But it often results in "hey dude, look here, been done already". Phrasing it like "has X feature been done anywhere?" would give more replies ofcourse.
Unless some o-ring freezes, and the even distribution of small fragments ends up in the atlantic ocean...
Thanks for stepping into that one :P

I just heard a Goodyear blimp is missing from radar. Makes you wonder...
Could this be the bunker-buster bomb that the militairy needs now that high-value targets are moving deeper and deeper underground?

Well mister wondergeek... when are you gonna give 'm a firewall?

What's useless to you may be seen by someone else as useful, or (*gasp*!) entertaining. And they other way around ofcourse.

This plane does not have to do a full re-entry into the atmosphere, I think that gives Rutan a bit more leeway in aerodynamic design.
And in the Netherlands. But since less and less hardware is supported by UnixWare, companies are moving to Linux, HP-(s)UX, Solaris, and what not. SCO's dead.
It has a place in American history, As the hostname you link to makes perfectly clear...
But this guy Bubba always stares at my soap, almost as if he wants me to drop it :s
Or launch a statue..

No, it was Atlantis. It sank. It was horrible.

Pageviews. /. is a business.
No I don't... thanks to this professors endorsement I now go to Slashdot comments for the FACTS. And spelling help.
