They are sending one to have a look around in 2006 but it will take a few years to get there.
This New Horizons mission was hit by a big funding cut early this year, although that decision has now been reversed. However it is still not certain that the mission is going to happen, which is a shame because this really is a mission to go where none has gone before...
Why are the scientists sure that the Kuiper Belt holds reminants of the big bang? Comets are made of ice, but they aren't considered building blocks. This is interesting nonetheless and I hope we can use this to help prove(or disprove) a theory or two.
First, creation of the solar system happened about 10 billion year later than the big bang. Second, planets do not just magically appear, they slowly form when smaller particles and rocks lump together because of either gravity or impact. Therefore small blocks of "ice" can be considered building blocks.

When I started in my current job (maintaining a character based application on unix) I had to do a lot of typing, and after a couple of months my wrists started to hurt. A co-worker left, and I inherited his natural keyboard. The wrist pain went away and never returned.
Too bad the new versions of that keyboard have a different layout. In one version the left and right arrow keys are raised so the four keys form a + instead of an inverted T. In the other new version the block with Ins, Home, Pgup and such has been changed completely:(
Everyone likes the Hubble because it can give us pretty pictures, and truly they are amazing & has made many ground breaking discoveries, but IR can show us much much more.
It's not just visible light that gives beautiful pictures. Check out this gallery of Chandra X-ray images.
Yes, ofcourse you are right. We all know that ISPs only have customers immediately next to the company building. Damn those CAT5 cable length limitations...
...with this once-in-a-very-long-time opportunity, why hasn't anyone put a manned mission to Mars together?
While Mars today was closer then ever in 60,000 years, it still does not make that much of a difference compared to every other "closest-approach" (the right word for it escapes me for now). The couple of thousand miles that you would win now are insignificant compared to the distance you need to travel to go to Mars.
Would it even be feasible to send probes to Venus, or is it just too hot?
Several probes have been sent to Venus by the Russians. At least one lander managed to stay operating long enough to send back a lot of data from the surface.
Too bad they can't run it in California. If a station does air it, they have to give free exposure for all the other governmental candidates in the recall (no pun) vote...
One big GUI flaw that comes to mind is Window's hiding of the file extension, even though that extension tells the OS what to do with that file. Thus all the "greatpic.jpg.pif" filenames in viruses.. I know you said "many of the flaws", but this one is too bad not to mention, IMHO.
And, along those lines, didn't one of the missions leave behind a corner-reflecting mirror that can be used to bounce light off the moon and measure it's distance?
Yes, they did. The first one was put there by Armstrong and Aldrin, so it was available from day one...
Some interesting results over the years:
"Ranging has also determined that the length of an Earth day has distinct small-scale variations of about one thousandth of a second over the course of a year, caused by the atmosphere, tides, and Earth's core. In addition, precise positions of the laser ranging observatories on Earth are slowly drifting as the crustal plates on Earth drift. The observatory on Maui is seen to be drifting away from the observatory in Texas."
You might as well just format the drive now and get it over with.
That's what Joe Sixpack does when he gets infected. He'll just whip out his reinstall package, end up with a box that is clean of the worm, but unpatched. Within hours or days or weeks he'll be infected again, and will do the same thing that 'fixed' it last time. That is what keeps these worms alive for so long.
Oh please mod up ac.. he's the only one thusfar that gets it :/

A replica like this?
No, it's stuff that matters :)
Or "liberate tutemae ex inferis"

Are you kidding? How about Carmack's Armadillo Aerospace?

Mars is the god of war. It's all a big gubmint conspiracy to make The War Against Terror more popular ;)

Yes they do... :) We still need some work on anti-gravity, but the longetivity drugs are already here.

A monkey or a rat?
Starship Troopers, anyone?

Bah, no UnixWare version :/
