In Super Monkey Ball Deluxe they made the joystick have a huge dead zone from some reason, it isn't really the controller's fault. It does make the game unplayable, though. Metal Gear Solid uses the stick's sensitivity well, as does Katamari Damacy.
The fault in USB is that the device supplies it's own ID (which is reasonable), if you RTFA you will see they say the problem is in the drivers
drivers often do not verify data correctly and always run with system level privileges, meaning you just need to find one driver that is installed by default (or auto installed) to attack the system.
You can also use OpenSSH's tunneling and SOCKS4 proxy mode to reach (relative) safety,
most programs support SOCKS natively (others can usually be socksified).
Firefox supports it well(in the proxy settings, only set the SOCKS proxy), and you can select one of multiple endpoints with the SwitchProxy extension
I use this occasionally to get around stupid firewalls.
I write my passwords down, most of them anyway, on my Palm, using Keyring.
Everything's protected by a master password and triple DES, so it's fairly secure.

I'm in an open-plan too, my solution so far is noise cancelling headphones (that remove most of the fan hum from the machines I'm surrounded with) and a constant supply of music (mediated by IMMS).
The flash plugin probably attempts to open the sound device itself while it is locked by esd/artsd.
you should try running your browser (or any other misbehaving program) under esddsp/artsdsp, will most likely solve your problem
I can't do anything but complain about the USPTO. I can't write a letter to my senator, as I'm not a US citizen. I really can't see anything I can do about it.
I highly recommend MailScanner works with a large group of AV software, allows you to filter by magic! (file content, that is:)
Also works with SpamAssassin, RBLS, and all sorts of other goodies
That's Beagle.K (or Beagle.J, it's linked from the story, though), I've only recieved one, but it's annoying as all hell to block.
I'm now blocking all encrypted zip attachments via my trusty MailScanner
(there's a beta version which adds this, I couldn't trust the filename rules, and wouldn't block all zip attachments)

Q22: What is Level 2?
A22: This includes all of Level 1, plus anyone who is spam-friendly, supporting spammers, or highly suspicious, but not blatant enough to be included in the Level 1 list yet. If it becomes obvious that someone at Level 2 has become a real problem, they will be escalated to Level 1 after some attempt at education. The Level 2 list will have some inadvertent blocking (non-spammer IP addresses listed), but can still be used by small ISPs or individuals who want a stricter level of blocking/filtering. By having a two tiered list, you can make the hardcore spamfighters happy; those who want to block first and ask questions later. Also, a listing in the Level 2 list may exert a bit of pressure on spam friendly sites and may keep them from turning totally bad - but that is not really the point, stopping spam is. (note: a Level value of "0" means that area is not listed)

I don't know about Quake, but there's a patch for Crystal Space/Mozilla called Crystalzilla which does this.

see Union des républiques socialistes soviétiques in wikipedia
it does, but you can use Opera's new Fit to width feature to bypass this (View->Fit to width), as I am doing
okay, seeing as there are official mirrors, I'm removing mine
here we go, Mirror

As does opera.
connect camera's inputs to computer, feed modified picture
camera signs picture, adds signature to card
am I missing something here?
Good idea, but then 90% of windows machines will be dead
Wouldn't anyone interested enough be able to reverse engineer the binary drivers anyway?
