Why do you play computer games at all then? Do you need a computer to plot galactic conquest? Why don't you just sell your computer and use a pen and paper or just your imagination?

Oh and do some research...just a quick google search on "how many frames per second can an eye see" produced many links. Here is just one:

Uhhh, its very easy to notice, but you never even bother to try becuase you're still playing Descent 2. Granted, Descent 2 was a great game and I would love to see a modern version of Descent.

Basically your arguement is that all the eye candy should just be dropped to bare blocky polygons because you don't like the current games? Your post has nothing to do with the technology of frame rates and refresh rates but everything to do with your opinion on what makes a good game. Kind of off topic for a thread about a new video card don't you think? Bordering on flame bait I would say.

You obviously have never played a first person shooter getting at 30 and then again at 70-80 or so have you? There is a HUGE difference. The framerates are also averages. Would you rather have an average of 30 (which means you could dip down into the teens at times) or an average of 100 (that never dips lower than 40 or so?) Check google or search slashdot and you'll find articles explaining all about human abilities and the truth and myth about framerates.

How is a cell phone conversation any different from someone talking on a normal phone? Or talking on a cordless phone out in your yard on on your patio? Do people get annoyed when people in their own home pick up the phone and carry on a conversation? If not then why do they get annoyed when a stranger is having a conversation on a cell phone in public?

I don't think its the cell phone so much as its people feeling left out. They want to be nosey but can't because they only hear one side. What if 2 people were talking face to face and one was using sign language and the other was speaking out loud. Would the be as annoying to other people around them as a cell phone?

I'd say comply with the rule, but then also remove all paging from the servers to your personal devices. Then when something goes down its not your problem. Servers that crash will be discovered when you get in in the morning and fixed during proper work hours. If they want to make you carry a pager, insist on a pay increase. Carrying a pager basically means you are working 24/7 and the pay should reflect that. I love how management these days wants to further restrict employees on personal time at work but at the same time insist that employees give up after hours and weekend time to do work. The way I look at it is its a "you do this for me, I'll do this for you" kind of thing. You let me use my cell phone at work, I'll allow the work servers to send warnings to my personal phone. You let me have free access to the web then I won't complain about having to stay after work or work on weekends. You pay me every 2 weeks, I'll show up at work, hit all my deadlines and do a good job.

Being a good employee is one thing, letting companies walk all over you is completely different.
