The problem is with the gamers and their imaginations. Those that find GTA3 and VC boring just don't want to take the time to play around and experiment. They want a cut and dry "do this then this" experience. They don't care if they can get their bike up on top of a building or land a helicopter on top of a bilboard sign. They don't want to try and bail out of a car while in mid flight off a bridge and try and make it explode into a group of other cars. Its all about imagination and how strong it is in some people as compared to others.
You can take your nail clippers on the plane. Don't be so dramatic. You can also take razor blades for shaving as well as a bunch of other stuff that people get all paranoid about but don't bother to actually look into.
They mentioned upgrading the music somewhat but what about updating the graphics. I know the games are fun and all but instead of just slapping these onto a dvd and releasing it for $50 they should make it more worthwile and spend sometime updating the graphics somewhat. Like what Nintendo did for the snes mario allstars cart.
Cause we all know that the more obnoxious lights and blinking crap you have visible makes your computer run faster. Kinda like placing a Type-R logo on you Honda Civic.
Wrong. As far as I know the law does not say that you cannot download music from kazaa. It says you can't steal a cd from walmart but if it were as cut and dry as that then there wouldn't be so many questions and debates over it.
The RIAA says its illegal, but they aren't the court. SCO says you are illegal if you don't buy a linux license from them but we all know thats BS. But they say it isn't.
So lets just wait till the lawsuits hit the courts shall we.
Its extremely easy to say that anonymously. If you don't have a family or don't have anyone to look out for. If you don't need to worry about your job or money then yeah...sure it would be easy to just fight back. But unfortunately most of the people they are going after can't afford to lose everything just to fight the RIAA over some music files.
Graffiti artist? Oh you mean person who vandalizes property that doesn't belong to them costing the city money to clean up their crap. Oh I understand. Nothing says high art like someones name spelled out in tons of colors on the side of a subway car.
Can you say: I am not making enough money in a real job so I'm just gonna sue someone?
This kid is no different than millions of kids around the world. EVERYONE gets picked on. Some worse than this. I was picked on, I bet you were too. We all were. Its how we pick ourselves up and deal with it is where we are different. So this kid gets ridiculed at school so he basically has a breakdown. Whats going to happen when he faces critism in the work place? Is he gonna snap again and kill his boss? I think he needs to toughen up. His parents should have told him to stop crying, pick himself up and get back in the fray. Sitting in a corner crying because you were made fun of is not the way to solve the problem. Thats what this kid is doing. This is a good lesson for him, life is hard. You suck it up, and deal with it. You don't turn around and sue people because you don't like them. Its a dangerous precendent that they are trying to set here. Today its crying about being picked on...tomorrow its sueing because billy put gum in susy's hair.
Its a bs lawsuit by a greedy lawyer and parents that shouldn't be parents because obviously they don't know what they are doing.
1. It wasn't his property. He made it on school equipment and the kids stole it from school. That makes it a theft against the school.
2. No one encouraged anyone to write anything. People modified the movie as they wanted to and it rolled from there.
3. There is no proof they planned on stealing the money or ipod. They joked about it, but hey...we all make comments about "oh I could just kill that person" but we never do that either.
The point is this kid had an opportunity to use this event in his life to his advantage but instead he just made things worse.
but when the computer opponent cheats to give you a sense of higher difficulty thats a whole different world. Many games take this approach as a cheap way to say "oh its hard".
I was going to buy the new FZero game, then I heard how hard it was. Now I'm probably not going to buy it at all. I don't have time to be beating my head against the floor because I can't win the race because I'm coordination-ally challenged these days.
"The industry needs to cough up money so victims and their families can be compensated for their pain," Thompson said. "The shareholders need to know what their games are doing to kids and their families. They need to stop pushing adult rated products to kids. These products are deadly."
Amazing that some lawyer believes this...oh wait, no its not. If they win they'll make history for themselves as well as get a really good chunk of change.
Why can't I get on jury selection for stuff like this so when they ask me a question I can tell them what morons they are???
Kids are seeing that they can claim video games made them do it these days and they don't get labeled as murderers or as crazy. Its just another ploy to not accept responsibility.
Granted these kids admitted responsibility but they also blamed GTA. If they didn't they probably would have been in more trouble. Lesson for the kiddies out there. If you are going to commit a violent crime make sure you have a good scapegoat. These days movies and video games seem to work pretty well.
This kid aka little shit lost all my pity when he turned around and sued the kids and their parents for some ungodly amount. This kid could have milked this thing really well but instead his parents got all lawyered up.
Great lesson they are teaching their son. Someone is mean to you so you turn around and sue them.
Well first the court would probably permanently take all your computers as evidence. Forget about getting them back, even after the case.
I think its more of the enormous hassle involve. They got the money, they can just sit on it while you spin your wheels and lose sleep and worry and waste money trying to find a defense.
But yeah, they will have to prove that you did what they say you did. Chances are none of these will get that far anyways. The RIAA has too much money. Here's hoping it does at least once get to a trial of some kind though. It'll make great tv.
The game hasn't even gone gold yet so there is NO date. No matter what the stores say. Wait till the gold announcement then add probably 2-3 weeks. So each week that goes by just keep sliding that window.
I get a kick out of how they call Kazaa (and other p2p networks) a pirate service. Hasn't the courts passed judgement saying Kazaa and p2p software and their networks are not illegal?
I haven't bought a cd in probably a year. I haven't downloaded much in that year either...its mostly crap anyways.
That looks an awful lot like a letter I got from a Texas Rep I wrote to a few months ago. I don't have it anymore but some of the wording looks extremely familiar.
Those monkeys don't care about anything but keeping their jobs anyways. So they'll follow the money instead of the people.
I've flown many times through Chicago Ohare and Atlanta, during busy holidays and during not so busy weekends. So I think you'd agree those are rather busy airports. I've seen the crowds, I've seen people try and push through security, I've seen people try and rush and cut in line in security, I've seen people get pulled out of line and its all been because they were either acting rudely to the security people or they were wearing so much metal it set the alarms off. Protocol says if the alarms go off, you get searched. I even saw a guy at christmas time try and get a bag full of wrapped presents through security. Now all the news and signs and ticket people said at that time of the year...don't wrap your presents. The majority of the people that get hassled are extremely stupid people. They shouldn't be allowed to fly anyways.
All I meant by the TSA website PDF was that it indicates that it is the official "what you can and cannot carry" list. If its on the official list and they take if from you then you have a case...after all even they say its official.
The security now is no different than it was before. The only big difference is only ticketed people beyond security, and thats a good change. Everything else is still the same. The press and TSA want you to think its different, but it really isn't.
I fly all the time. I've got razors, fingernail clippers, tweezers, shaving cream, and other stuff in my carry on bags. I don't take my shoes off, I never get stopped at security to be searched and I never spend more than a few minutes going through checkpoints.
That list is more than just some bureaucrat information on a website, it is the official TSA website on what officially you are allowed to carry. If you want print it out and take it with you if they try to confiscate something. You still have rights you know. Just because you don't want to standup for yourself and would rather bend over and take it up the ass doesn't make you correct.
"prevent anyone for bringing toenail clippers aboard flights"
Totally offtopic but before spouting off about airport security you might want to actually look up what you are allowed to having in your carry on bag. It may surprise you as to how wrong you are.

Exageration for the sake of humor is ok, but at least have your exagerations be based somewhat on facts.
And in the meantime your tossing tons of batteries into the trash that don't need to be there.
I've got a few sets of rayovac 1800 alkaline rechargables that I use in my digital camera that last longer than a normal set of non-rechargable alkaline batteries.
Even if thats true...I have VOD now. Have had it for over a year. I never use it because I get better quality out of DVD and its slow. It takes forever to load the application in my cable box and interactivity response time is slow. Sure they could speed those parts up but can coax handle the large amount of data to exceed dvd quality?
I also have fiber to my home (well the conduit is there, they haven't run mine yet). The problem is that the pipe they have going out of the neighborhood is not enough to fully service all the homes. So you'll end up getting less than cable modem speeds while you fight for bandwidth with your neighbors. I would love to have a fat full 10 or 100mbit pipe over fiber to my home for cable and internet and phone, but I don't see that happening at $40-$50 prices even in 5 years...10 maybe...15 more probable.
I can see music but not movies. The amount of data is just too large. With HD-DVD coming maybe 5 years or so from now unless internet to the home speeds increases dramatically in just that short of time movies will still be about 100% media only.

Ok but what is the cost of living in India compared to the cost of living in say San Francisco or LA?
I bet you its about the same ratio lower to live in India.
Wrong. As far as I know the law does not say that you cannot download music from kazaa. It says you can't steal a cd from walmart but if it were as cut and dry as that then there wouldn't be so many questions and debates over it.

$225k per kid. To a family that is it. Game over.

Junk faxes are already illegal.
