You don't have to tell me. I scored a retention bonus during the dot bomb crash. Of course, my piddlely little 10% extra is nothing compared to the millions those assholes grabbed.
"The rush towards biofuels is theatening world food production and the lives of billions of people, the [British] Government's Chief Scientific Adviser said yesterday."
The problem with that is that it's damn hard to audit.
I have a very uncommon name. I plugged it into those search sites linked in TFA, and 99% of the search results were definitely about me. And nothing sordid or embarrassing came up.
So as long as you're careful you can still stay anonymous on the web.
Okay, WTF? I've been wading through his deposition (I'm not finished yet) but this guy doesn't know what he's talking about! "Again, every device is identified through its IP address. The MAC address is only valid from one local connection to another." The hell?
And then: "Generally network card doesn't have an IP address. The computer is what has the IP address."
And thanks for playing. Here's your lovely parting gift. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Seriously, I glad this clown hasn't testified in front of a judge. It's terrifying to think that someone would be put away for something like kiddy porn on the basis of his testimony.
That's fine for the colors of a window frame, or the number of items on a pull-down menu, but OS security should not be driven by marketing and 'community feedback'. Microsoft's development methodology is fundamentally broken, and they don't seem to realize it.
Huh? My parents' machine is a PIII 800 Mhz running W2K and they've got Firefox 3.0 with AdBlocker and a few other plugins. Never had a serious problem. (Just the minor Windows issues that can be solved by a reboot.)
Oh, now stop being silly. Mexico is right there on that Wikipedia page on the second list. Both Mexican satellites were put in orbit by the Space Shuttle. I'm sure I could put my own satellite in orbit if I paid the Americans or the Russians or the ESA or somebody enough money to loft it for me.
There's a huge difference between that and being able to put your own satellite in orbit with your own rocket, which was what I was querying.
I'm not arguing that. I know they have a decent education system and a strong R & D setup. I just thought it was a rather big step from medium range missiles to putting something in orbit.
I dunno, but I'd like to see some third party confirmation before I believe that Iran has a satellite in orbit. Launching a satellite and putting it in orbit is a tricky thing to do; only a few countries have managed it, and none the size or technology level of Iran, IIRC.
Honestly, look at this list. One of these things in not like the others.
Safari is bundled with OS X, as are a lot of utility programs. However, you can easily download and install another browser and delete the safari.app file from your/Applications folder. Then you can run System Preferences and set your default browser, if the browser itself hasn't already done so. And anyway, Apple has not been found guilty of violating the Sherman Act. Microsoft has, therefore different rules apply to them.
Wow. Do you even read the front page? From Slashdot yesterday: 'experience has shown that multiprocessing across discrete CPUs is not the same thing as multiprocessing across integrated cores within the same CPU.' Here's the article.
But then anyone who says, "Microsoft has never released a version of Windows that performed that badly." has go to be trolling.
editor isn't editing anything I don't want it wasting resources idle Thing is, idle apps on OS X use very few resources. OS X seems to manage resources a lot better than Windows does; I've never seen the OS stall while managing swap space the way Windows does.

That means the employees are still with AIG.
Except they're not. At least some of them. link
"11 of those who received "retention" bonuses, which topped $1 million each, no longer work at AIG. One such person received a $4.6 million bonus."
It's certainly not a given, but there is much more than 'zero credibility' behind the argument.
From the first hit on Google:

UAC is a lot like requiring sudo without a password
Thank you. That explains just about everything right there.
Hey, somebody should make sure Jack Thompson knows about this. He'd probably be on the next plane to Kenya to try to stop it.
Then, if we can just make sure he never comes back ...
Eh? And 3.14 is accurate?
Congresscritters can't do math; they have no idea of the significance of 22/7.
Anyway, March 14 is Pi day because it can be written 3.14.
Ahh, yes, Dungeons and Dragons. A game that that combines the breathless excitement of Parcheesi with all the thrills of double-entry bookkeeping.
You might like this book. Brian Daley wrote three Han Solo prequels and they're collected in that volume. Good, old-fashioned, space opera.
"Sophomoric and crude Ann Coulter"
That sounds like an accurate description to me.

Don't forget WMP on OS X, VBA on OS X, MSN Messenger, and, of course, Rotor.
The worst malware is the program .. that leaves hosts editable by unprivileged users
That would be Windows ©.
You don't like Being Erica? What's wrong with you? :-P

Ah, cool. Thanks for that. I didn't see any references like that when I was reading about it.

It's someone like Steve Jobs who wouldn't approve of Songsmith.
And he'd be right. Remember, it was Jobs who said something like, "The problem with Microsoft is that they have absolutely no taste."
