Does that mean you can destroy cancer cells (or at least slow them down) by surrounding them with fluid infused with high-density metabolic waste? Interesting...
My old high school actually taught HyperCard in a "computer technology" class, concurrent with Pascal in the "computer science" class. (This was 92-96.) I thought it was valuable, getting the two different perspectives, plus it trained us to think in terms of hypermedia.
I believe there are VCRs, made by Go-Video, that have two heads. I've never used one, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to record one show while watching another one on a different tape (just put it in the 2nd slot).
Actually, from their site, they say you can "Watch a video while recording from TV, Cable, or Satellite".
Just find the spot in pi that contains a string of numbers that can represent the file. It's gotta be in there somewhere.

I hope that soon somebody comes out with a Tivo-like device which skips all the program downloading crap and just gives us what we want: commercial skipping.
You mean like the 30-second skip button on ReplayTV?
I talked to Microsoft the other day about.NET for the company I work for...they couldn't tell me one advantage.NET had over an existing implementation of something like SQL server and a third-party XML data customization server.
The pre-sales guy kept saying over and over again "you can get your information anytime, anywhere"...he eventually admitted that.NET has virtually no advantage for a company with any significant investment in infrastructure.
"I worry if the government encourages open source, and I don't think we've done enough education of policy makers to understand the threat."
That's it, the policy makers haven't been "educated" on the facts. Perhaps MS lobbyists should "educate" the policy makers with more stadium-fuls of money.
I wonder if this would let you hook up a USB->Ethernet adapter to get some cheap network storage from this thing, kinda like a less expensive version of the Snap servers.
Hey, you could even get your company to buy you one as a business expense.
It's actually http://www.mailwasher.net/.
Yep, we all got Replay or TiVo.
You'll pay them money, but once they have your money, what is to stop them from increasing their bottom line by getting advertisers...
HBO and friends don't feel the need to interrupt shows with advertising. Not yet anyway.

I beg to differ...lots of people have agreed to install the Windows XP beta.
You think lawyers have time to read /.?

If there's no way to fast-forward through the ads, no one will buy it. They'll have to pry my Replay from my cold, dead fingers.
You don't have to post this in response to EVERY post that mentions setting the clock. That's just super-redundant.
You mean like ReplayTV? I got it for about $300 net from Mercata while ago, should be about $400 now. The service cost is included in the price.
Replay is now owned by SonicBlue (previously S3), so I don't think they'll be going anywhere anytime soon.

I think it's funny that Microsoft called one of their SOAP tools the Remote Object Proxy Engine. Someone over there must still have sense of humor.
That would work if Fox was actually a cable network. The best thing you can do is complain to the advertisers, or throw your TV out the window.
Or, throw your TV at one of the advertisers.

When you get a message encoded with Spam Mimic, you'll assume it's spam and delete it. Great idea though.
Although target highlighting would be pretty cool, if more people used target anchors.
