I have seen the app in the Google Play store, but since I have unlimited messaging from Verizon, felt no need to use it.
The app appears to be more popular overseas than in the States due to the high charges that foreign wireless providers charge for SMS. This app allows users to avoid those charges.
It looks like this is a play by FB to tap into the large international user base of this app, imo...
I have also seen Leonard Nimoy on the old "Sea Hunt" TV series ( Lloyd Bridges ) and "Highway Patrol" ( Broderick Crawford ). Old black-and-white TV of the 50's and early 60's. I really enjoy those old shows - when it was about acting and not so much special effects. Those old stars are what made Hollywood so special. Even to this day, I enjoy seeing re-runs of *some* of the old 50's shows ( however, I feel most of them were crap - no different from today ).
I just kept getting cognitive dissonance, as they usually had Nimoy playing the bad guy... and all the time I kept seeing him as Spock. Star Trek was by far my favorite TV series of all time.
My condolences to him and his family. His acting career brought a lot of us into technological interests. The only person that ranked beside Leonard in my book was James Doohan ( Engineer Montgomery Scott ).
Both were role models to me.
He doesn't have CANCER. He has COPD. My father has it as well as a few other elderly folks I know. It is painful to watch them struggle to take a breath when that condition flares up....
I don't think it will help them much. Brick and mortar still has to pay property tax, utilities, etc. They still have to finance high-value real estate. They still have to have a clean, wide-open space which is aesthetically pleasing but economically wasteful. Anyway, I'm not aware of states with 10% sales tax - usually it is about half of that, and the highest seems to be 7.5% in CA. To get to 10%, I have to scroll down the list and find the highest state taxes and combine them with the highest local taxes.
Fort Smith, AR is close.....9.375 % city & state combined.....
Didn't some company come out with a device that would send out the tones that you get when you call a disconnected line? That way the auto-dialer that the scammers are using would mark the line as disconnected and stop calling. Or you could setup an answering machine to answer the line with those tones...
There is a jerk just like you at my job. I'll ask coworkers for their opinion on a particular tool, and he has to but in and say, "You can just Google for the tool and find hundreds of them for sale." I don't ask my coworkers because I need a list of names, I ask them because I want their opinion, and usually specific to the type of work we do. Part of "growth" is just not knowing what is the most popular choice, but knowing the criteria people use when selecting a tool. And just like that jerk coworker, guys like you will complain how such requests for opinion and discussion waste your time by making you do other people's work for them, yet you have no problem spending way more time whining about wasting time than you would with actually moving on and doing whatever makes your time so important.
You want people to speak up, and not sugar coat things for the purpose of "inoffensiveness"? Well, the did, by down modding such garbage. You want to value honest expression over phony appearance, yet bitch when it turns out people disagree with you.
They aren't fake, there are drones, only the video from the drones isn't permissible in court.
So they are working on changing the laws so the drones can open fire on speeders, under the assumption that they are terrorists speeding to their targets.
I wish they could fire on slowpokes in the left hand lane holding up the faster traffic! LOL
Actually it would be very practical! Put a hopper on top of that thing so it can load and haul a few blocks at a time and it would be invaluable to a masonry worker for fetching blocks for a job instead of a helper or the masonry person him/herself having to haul them....would be very handy...
Yes, but those machines are securely bolted to the floor and have maximum leverage. They weren't walking on legs at the same time and have to deal with balancing themselves whilst throwing the block..
Tulsa is a pretty nice place.....big city with plenty to do....not a hick town by any stretch.....lot of nice lakes and forests to the Northeast (they call it Green Country), so lots of places to go if you are the outdoorsy type...
Tulsa is only an hours drive from me.....would be neat to check out that program to further my IT career, but they probably wouldn't take an old fart like me...;)
In fairness, the claim that it "might be less impossible than previously thought" may be accurate. It could be less impossible and still be pretty much impossible. And I don't think anyone believed that a warp drive could be built without violating some of our current laws of physics.
All someone needs to do is hurry up and invent verterium cortenide and everything else will fall into place....
.... we could use an augmented vision system for our local Cadillac drivers. It would enable them to virtually see through their steering wheel, dashboard and engine compartment to view the road in front of them.
Yes...it will ignite very readily with a match. Have watched too many people burn brush piles with it when I was a kid.
It doesn't flash up or the vapors don't ignite like gasoline, but burns steadily.
I work for a healthcare company and that little exchange would be an ethics violation....the doctor would be required to purchase the house at fair market value.....you are not allowed to get property from current or former patients at a discount because of services you rendered...lots of other healthcare companies probably work the same way...
This doesn't appear to be an issue about taxes...it is about someone receiving govt assistance while making undeclared money on the side and not reporting that income, therefore possibly making them ineligible for further govt. assistance.
That would be like someone here in the States drawing unemployment compensation, but making $50,000 a year selling stuff on the side. If that is the case for that person, they shouldn't be drawing govt. assistance since they have an income..
Sounds nice down there....crazy thing about our student loan system is now there are instances of colleges WITHHOLDING http://boingboing.net/2012/05/08/universities-hold-students-t.html/ your college transcript until your debts are paid off. That means you cannot get a job to REPAY those debts, which basically is indentured servitude. The thing is that the schools are the ones that are not owed the money. The loans are from the government...and they are making the schools into collection agencies. HTF are you supposed to pay your bill off if you cannot GET A JOB WITHOUT YOUR TRANSCRIPT?!?!

Amen! Where are my mod points when I need them?
They are...on Xbox, Skype, and mobile according to TFA.....

Wasn't that Frank Katten's game in Ocean's 13?

Yea, but those pesky EF4 & 5 twisters tend to make a mess of things quite frequently......unless they are underground....

And law enforcement will just outlaw such 'discouragement' if they don't already and write you up when they see it...
English, dude.....English...

You mean the Tantalus Field machine...
