Don't try that in Northwest Arkansas communities...they ticket you for waiting in the middle of the intersection to turn on yellow...you have to wait back at the stop line on the road for a gap in the traffic, THEN you have to punch the gas to get thru the gap in oncoming traffic...of course, older drivers will wait for Christmas before they turn.......(and they wonder why traffic is so atrocious up there!)
The Google vehicle was trespassing on private property....wouldn't probably have been a problem if they had snapped a photo from a public road.....around here a person can get a load of buckshot in their rear window for going up a private driveway unannounced and taking photos....
Correction
1) Companies like to buy cheap goods to improve margin
1a) People have to buy inexpensive goods because most of the good paying manufacturing jobs have gone overseas and they cannot afford better
Fixed it again....
But lo and behold, just a few days ago I drove by and the damn place was PACKED with customers listening to that shit, half of them staring blankly at the telescreens because they can't stand for three damn minutes to be alone with their thoughts while their tank fills. ...
Interesting reference to the novel 1984 (either intentionally or unintentionally).....wonder if the screens are two-way?
It doesn't allow you to make a free phone call, it is a free alternative to the 411 service that the phone companies change you ($1.50 per call on Alltel). I put it on my speed dial just now and gonna start using it. Tried several numbers to see if I could hear the sound, but the response to my query was instantaneous and thus heard no sound....
I found it funny in the video attached to the article that the ABC commentators mentioned that before this dust-up, only about 20-30 people saw the video (mainly family members). After this story broke, it has received THOUSANDS of hits (i.e Streisand effect).....so once again, big music shot itself in the foot....
Because slowly but surely, people are getting increasingly tired of big corporations telling you how to live your life, what you can see, what you can do....etc.... Besides, you can barely make out what the song is and as the other reply to your message mentioned, it is fair use. I say to the mom, 'You Go, Girl!'
I think Ubuntu would have a very good shot at competing with Windows if users are given a choice...I have been mainly a Windows user for many years, but recently have been using Ubuntu on one of my workstations. Quite frankly, I have been VERY impressed with its usability and the choice of software available for free. Plus the ease at which you can install any additional software is very appealing.
The other day, the integrated sound card on that PC started cutting out and I was dreading having Ubuntu start barking tons of error messages about unknown hardware, etc when I installed a spare sound card I had stuck in a cabinet (older Soundblaster card). But I was pleasantly surprised when the newly installed card started working with no prompts to install or download any drivers!
My wife is big into digital photography and if I could get up to speed with The Gimp, I could totally ditch Windows!
It would be problematic to replace the affected tiles.....if I remember from old articles (don't have links, sorry), each tile is unique and not the same size as its neighbor (although they visually appear to be). You would have to grind it or somehow alter the shape to make it fit the hole precisely as it should.
If they used the caulk, I would worry about the goop bubbling out or not being flush with the surrounding surface, thereby creating drag which may pull the whole tile out, which would leave a BIGGER opening with sharp edges causing more tiles to be torn off...I would think the black paint they were discussing wouldn't hurt.....just my.02 cents...
Especially if the machine is resolving to 192.168.0.1 on his internal network. Looks like the XP box is set up as a router (ICS maybe?) and probably a DNS server as well for his internal network (Smoothwall or a similar flavor of firewall software would be a lot cheaper alternative than WinXP..imo)
Our company just got a shiny new IBM z9 2 months ago....we used to rent time off of a system 1/2 a state away. Management decided it was more cost-effective to bring the machine in-house....
Shavlik's Patch deployment software works real well in that aspect....you can pick individual machines, OU's, IP ranges or any other combination you can think of. Can decide which machines get which patches....you can configure the time of the patch deployment, when the machines will reboot after said patches are installed.....quite a large number of ways of deploying patches...
This is what we use at my place of work, but still takes quite a bit of time tending to a large number of machines, especially waiting on the server engineers to give you permission to proceed, QA testing, etc......
Still..better than having to touch each machine one at a time....

No, it's "Zeeur internet is burked?"
Damn! You sound like you just came over from Digg!!
Better yet, file a claim with the insurance company and let THEM sue Dell to recoup their costs!
If it was a re-skinned XP, it would run a lot faster than it does!

Exactly......look at what happened to Divx (the disc format, not the codec)...
Nope....not interested....
