  1. There's an app for that! on Software (and Appropriate Input Device) For a Toddler? · · Score: 1

    www.winzki.de (multi-language) My kids love these apps, and they are a real live-saver when you're not at home and your kids get bored. These apps are specifically made for small children, because when they hold the iPhone or iPod touch with one hand on the display, the apps still work. Most other apps for kids don't, which results in a big pile of frustration. You just can't tell a kid how to hold the thing 'right'.

    True, true. But in the last video we see that even permanent magnets can accelerate that motor with no other coils included.
    So in my way of dissecting the problem I have to ask: Is the Iron bar he inserts into the shaft magnetized by any chance ?
    Or does it 'optimize' the motor's own magnetic field so it runs faster ?
    Would the motor run faster with the coils far, far away AND the iron bar (magnetized or not) inserted ?

  4. Re:So look at it, take it apart, spend a few minut on Yet Another Perpetual Motion Device · · Score: 1

    As far as I followed the videos (yawn) he never let the motor and the wheel rotate with the coils far, far away.
    Only then we would know if he produced a brake which he switched off. What I mean is:

    if( speed_with_coils_and_back_EMF > speed_with_coils_far_far_away ){
            printf( "Forget the magnetic brake theory as explanation, look for a better one.");
    } else {
            printf( "Nothing to see here, move along.");

    Yes, MS Backup IS an old, buggy software.

    1) Do not use: "rebuild the catalog from a floppy".
    2) Use: "from MS-DOS drive and path"
    3) Use A:\ as the path
    4) insert last floppy of the set, then the first one
    5) enter the password
    6) rebuild catalog
    7) learn the norwegian language

    Btw: This password might become quite popular. From now on, I will try it first whenever the same problem comes up anywhere in the world.

    3.) Write worm (or wait for someone to do it)
    4.) Start worm (or wait for someone to do it)
    5.) Measure the uproar you caused usenet thread length (or wait for someone to do it)

    Refine method at will.

    Advantage of this method: It is easier to post messages into newsgroups than returning business reply mail cards. Cost is spread around the world.

    Limitation of this method: You get numbers of poorly installed products only.

    Proposal: Let's provide an open port for each piece of free (as in beer) or open (as in source) software so we can measure numbers there, too.
