Although RIM has alrady been found to have infringed the patents the judge could set asside the jury verdict based on the new information or could simply set damages at $1 and end the case that way.
It's actually the AGC (automatic gain control) in the VHS deck that gets confused by Macrovision not the autotracking. The weird part is I remember a congressional debate a few years ago where the congressman speaking were convinced that only rental tapes etc were Macrovision protected and that the retail products were not. Either they're out of touch or somebody's lying to them.
Nasa may be getting "More money" to develop the CEV project and keep the shuttle flying, but last I heard a lot of that was coming from other NASA programs rather than in the form in increased funding to NASA generally.
I thought that FISA allowed wiretaps without a warrant up front, provided that you obtain the warrant within 72 hours. Obviously the tapes can't be used in any legal proceeding until the warrant is approved.
It never will be probably. When you buy something there exists a contract between you and the seller. There is no contract between you and the manufacturer. The EULA attempts to create a contractual relationship between the manufacturer and the buyer but does so unilaterally without any additional benefit to the buyer which in most jurisdictions is not considered a valid contract.
In addition most EULAs essentially claim that the software doesn't do anything to avoid creating liability for non-performance. Nobody in their right mind would allow enforcement of a contract that specified that total non performance by a party could be considered valid performance under the contract.
Is Blair really responsible for dutch biometric passports ? As I understand it, the only reason for europe to implement biometric passports is because they will be required for travel to the USA.

Hopes Rise for RIM

The judge refused to stay proceedings until the outcome of the patent office review. This is the reale nonsense of the case... RIM may have to pay billions (or maybe many millions) to stay in business only to have the patent office invalidate the patents after judgment has already been entered against RIM.
Impossibility is a valid defense... You can't have sold cocaine if you didn't have any. You might be accused of conspiracy or attempting to commit particular crimes.
No... This would be some kind of mechanical rights license... licensing you to copy a CD you own in order to play the copy publicly rather than the original. I remember when i had public performance licenses in the UK that it said that I had to play from original media.
If IBM wanted to get the case dismissed they probably could... but they want it to go to trial for a couple of reasons. One being to settle the question for good and the other being to financially destroy the SCO Group.
and where else would you find a name like "Our right trusty and well beloved Counsellor Virginia Bottomley Our Secretary of State for National Heritage"
Automatic landings are available on almost all modern airliners... autopilot landings are meant for calm conditions with poor to no visibility, they are not intended to deal with cross-winds, tail-winds or other adverse weather.
This is one reason for a commercial high accuracy positioning system, right now GPS in not accurate enough to allow planes to taxi in zero visibility, which means while you can land, you can't get off the plane until visibility improves enough to see the terminal. A couple of meters either way on a landing doesn't matter, but a couple of meters wrong on the approach to the gate is unworkable.
Real mac owners would have the PowerPC version :-)

It happened in one of the (Red, Green, Blue) MARS books, but also involved a cable which was much bigger and more massive than the one proposed here.
Skyhooks !

Who has a patent on installing wireless networks in non-moving objects ... like buildings and such?

Check out openpbx.org ... they don't make hardware and they don't require copyright assignment.
Do you think that Tridge could be short for Tridgell ? ... not much less typing I know.
That would be silly.
Of course I could argue that a cop can't write me a speeding ticket because i own the copyright in how fast i was travelling.

Yeah ... where's the big revelation here, given enough thrust anything can fly.

Terminal velocity relates to accelration due to gravity vs aerodynamic drag ... doesn't have much to do with bullets.

The russians have their own satellite-based positioning system ... it's called GLONASS
Assuming they can get all 20 of them to launch in the first place.
