Mainly because of the three, Apple is the only company that has joined the SyncML organization. This could be causing political problems between Sharp and Apple. See this for a thoughtful analysis of the situation.
Well, the arcade is the arcade. It's not like you can go over to your friends house and play a realtime, realboard, real water surfing simulator. There's a new generation of arcade games coming out and they all run between $40 and $70k for the machines. You won't see that on your Gameboy.
I use my SL-5500 to watch DivX movies on longish flights (SF to Seattle) and one battery lasts 2-3 hours at full use. (I carry an extra battery, $38) I also carry a battery extender (4 AA NIMH in a charger/power pack) for extended Nethack sessions. (9-10 hours at full use, same internal battery) When using WiFi, I can get 3 hours of SSH out of a stock battery. Everyone's idea of usability varies. Getting the task done is what counts. The flexibility of the Zaurus puts it head and shoulders above the rest of the crowd.
Totally. This is a good example of where a consistant implementation would help. Either let us use domain.com and www.domain.com or one or the other. But not one sometimes, but not the other or the other sometimes, but not the one. Aaargh!! Try this one: adobe.com
Possibly Avril Lavigne. Here's a case of a musician who happens to play pop music. It's been known to happen from time to time and when you consider her age and the body of work yet to come...
Worked great in Kuwait, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan etc. etc. I would say that the politicos learned a lesson in Vietnam. Once you've defined a military objective and sent the military to do the job, STAY THE HELL OUT OF IT. The US military didn't fail in Vietnam. It was the politicians.
there is something "heroic" about peopel who willingly risk their lives to explore space, etc.
Nope. The soccer mom's of the world are the real heroes. Based on fatalities per passenger mile, the shuttle is actually one of the safest modes of transportation, right up there with nuclear submarines.
So it must be time to stop spending money on science and technology and start spending it on welfare and foodbanks. After all, what good has ever come out of things like 4 Billion Dollar particle accelerators and expensive space operations? We need more programs for the poor. All that money wasted on things no one cares about. All we want is bigger and badder missiles to wipe out people who we disagree with and more bread and entertainment. Is that so wrong? If we didn't waste our time trying to advance civilization, we could get on with the important work of regressing back to the primordial ooze.
And in related news, the MPAA has mysteriously misplaced 18 million dollars. It was last seen in a briefcase at the International Departure counter at LAX. Police remain mystefied.
that Americans tend to view cellphones ringing about as enjoyable as listening to a car alarm going off.
They must really enjoy it then. I sure hear an awful lot of car alarms going off all of the time. So many in fact, that no one even pays attention to them anymore.
I can see the future now. We will simply make it illegal to make backups. Think of all the extra money the corps will make by selling that content again and again to the same people. Think of all the extra money corps will have by not having to worry about buying tapes and drives and all that messy stuff. Catastrophic data loss? That's what insurance is for. And only we can afford it. The hapless consumers will just have to buy more, more, MORE!!/tongueincheek
Weird, anyhting inside the left pointing arrow and the right pointing arrow simply does not appear.

BIOS support to boot from USB. Then you could use the USB pendrive as a floppy disk replacement.
Can I come over to your house and play with these?
:-)
Or perhaps this?
And when we get tired of this, we can head out to your 5,000 square foot games room and look after these.
I'm glad that there are no arcades still around where you are. More for me here.
Think of it as watching a movie at a theatre or watching on VHS on your 19" TV at home.

Yes true. It is up to the webmaster of the domain. But it shouldn't be.

encroach upon my rights of anonymnity.
Oh, I remember: Life, Liberty and Anonimity. How could I ever forget. What country are you from?

Yeah, sure. That worked really well in Vietnam.

You'll notice that this entire thread got bitchslapped. Including all of the posts that were on topic to the parent.
Then I guess we should all still be talking about this:
Bus Crash Kills 27.
Speaking of priorities...
Negotiation is the key for getting your own way
Obviously you've never heard of B-52 bombers then.

I'm going back to my cartoons now.
and people seemed to just stop buying stuff
Sad commentary on society when that's what it takes to get people's attention. When was the last time that this happened??
Best Frank Herbert IMHO:
The White Plague
Far too plausible.

or perhaps the technical hooks in films are just a touch facile nowadays.
DOn't forget that they had access to an alien ship for 50 years. So our architectures and computer concepts are all devolved from theirs.
Guess we'll know when they begin to serve man.
:-)
Really? I hear they're good with onions and a little brown sauce.
Since when do we need to do searches before applying for patents??
Sort of like the "English" spoken in most of the US. Whether it's English most non-USains can understand...
Don't forget that most TV anchors are Canadian. They actually speak English.
