On the other side of the argument, how do you explain code red, nimda and the others whereas Linux and Apache has never had an event of such magnitude while having a greater server share (according to Steve Ballmer)? I work with dotnet developers and the way their inputs are cleaned but the framework is nonexistent. I can insert bad data a million different ways because they aren't cleansing it properly prior to insertion. I mentioned this and they looked at me clueless to what i was talking about but insisted that Microsoft musty have secured it or else they wouldn't have sold it. Hows that for logic?

Honestly, no sql injection attack affecting THOUSANDS of sites and THOUSANDS of systems on Apache systems. Yes. Singular attacks by bonehead developer who don't know their head from a singularity. But Microsoft seems to have a record for allowing these things to continue to occur on THOUSANDS of system over and over (ie Code Red, Nimda, etc etc).

While Apache (which is installed on nearly twice as many systems) still remains far more secure and you never hear of anything like this happening on Linux or Apache systems. So yes, I'd say Apache is pretty darn immune from not only this kind of attack but from your sarcasm as well.

Well speaking as a Java fan myself, that's not entirely true. This runs on the iPhone which Apple won't allow Java code to run on. Apple would like to see Java die and is doing it's best to kill it and Microsoft as well. The only people who like it are enterprises and developers... thankfully though, that's still alot of us and eventually Steve Job's will die.

Except... Warcraft is 100% open GL. And alot of game makers (as the article and others read) are not interested in DirectX anymore because Mac is gaining in popularity, consoles are gaining in popularity, iPod/iPhone/iPad are gaining in popularirty, etc. They use something so they don't have to code twice and can save money on coding costs.

That's why they originally went with DirectX because there was no other platform. Now there are... and game makers want something to cut their costs and CODE ONCE, USE EVERWHERE!
