that could have been activisions involvement? it's a good time to sell because that's when a lot of kids are encouraging parents to buy them games, and when people have a lot more disposable income.
and a lot of gamers would have complained if they had to wait...
as for the making the same game over and over again argument... well, I probably would too in his position.. keep on pushing your code to the limit. he'll probably be happy when it looks like full motion video..
maybe then id will decide to branch out and do something else. but maybe not, because as microsoft always tell us, their software - which is fundamentally the same - always has some improvements.
over the years I foresee id releasing FPS's which will have increasing poly counts until they look real. then the AI of monsters will keep getting better, then VR will come into it sometime, maybe eventually leading to a nano version which you can plug into a chip in your head for an experience which not only feels real, but implants itself as a memory..
there's just no limits when it comes to imagination and pushing the envelope of what technology can do for us.
it's much more than that and much less than that all at once.
this was pointless even mentioning the GBA. it's not a competitor. not even close.
let's take a close look at "Mira."
it's useless without network connectivity. it can't play games unless it's hooked up to an xbox. it can't be a PC unless it's hooked up to a desktop machine.
if you've got an xbox and a 29" TV, why would you hook up a tablet to play games on a smaller screen where controls would be fiddly because you're busy trying to hold the screen and the controller?
maybe you can hook up to your xbox via a wireless lan so you can play your game while you're taking a crap. but nobody is that hardcore addicted to any game to not pause when you need to lay a cable.
it really comes down to being a really expensive fashion accessory. it's completely redundant because it has no capacity of it's own.
if you want a portable games console, get a GBA.
if you want a portable PC for doing business stuff, get a pocket pc or a laptop.
if you want a remote control for your tv, get a remote control for your tv.
this offers nothing new or special for anyone except those who have to have all the latest toys regardless of their usefulness.
it should probably also be mentioned that a lot of companies are writing console style arcade games for pocket pcs. ipaq seems to be the most popular, but I don't like the layout of the directional arrows and with the bulge in the middle, it's not comfortable for game playing.. but I'm sure there will be new popcket pcs coming out which are more suited to this in the future..
rayman is currently available on pocketpc.. more will follow.
he who laughs longest and hardest is he who uses pine.
those fools laugh at me for my archaic email client.. well, laugh it up lads.. i'm off to the pub while you try and teach your moronic users time and time again not to open attachments, and not to run them again and again when they haven't appeared to do anything..
imagine you making some real nice hardware and some cheap arsed git allowing others to pirate your games and run them on their PCs while your nice piece of hardware is still selling.. and getting away with it..
I think bleem should have died sooner.
mind you, I'm not a cheap bum and can afford to buy my own games..

and it's only us people from this end of the planet who ever seem to notice that australia and new zealand are 2 different countries.
i'm from NZ and it really irks me when americans confuse the two countries. it's like confusing canada for part of america. neither canadians or americans would be happy with that, would they?
I'm no geography major, but this is something that everyone should know.
there are two little specks of land right at the bottom of the planet (just above the big block of ice) and it's a country all on it's own. we are New Zealand.
please try and remember that. Down Under is Australia as has been pointed out.
New Zealand is referred to as the Land of the Long White Cloud, or Godzone for some obscure reason.
of course, rumour has it that both aussies and kiwis (slang for NZers because of one of our native birds - the kiwi) shag sheep. but we're still 2 different countries.
there endeth the lesson.

here in NZ with my cable connection, I get 400Mb of free international traffic. then I pay just under 20 cents per Mb. so assuming in one month, the only international traffic I do is download this, I would have to pay NZ$35 in addition...
or if I had already used my int. quota, I'd have to fork out NZ$115 plus US$15.
I could order the CD for less, or I could go to a local shop and buy a distro like slackware for NZ$50.
while I agree with them, it's not something that will work globally.

whoever posted this was evil, because poor TMA only has a 128k link.
he's shut off the webserver..
and I wonder if Sun will sue.. they have a series of workstations called Blades.
different class and slightly different market, but how does the name in another computer device affect trademarks and or copyright??

but I thought it was ok.
I mean, as long as they are bruce's opinions and if it's pretty accurate, then what's wrong with it?
it's still an interview.. it's just given to us differently. some people hate change..
thanks chrisd. you did good with what you had.
